Steam Releases Charts Of 2018's Top Sellers (So Far)
Life, uh, finds a way.
July marks the mid-point through the year, and just like its year-end lists, Valve is taking the opportunity to look back at the best-selling games on Steam. As with last year, the chart doesn't provide specific sales figures, but does break them down into Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze categories.
Platinum games that are also new releases include games like Jurassic World Evolution, Far Cry 5, and Kingdom Come Deliverance. Gold includes many older games but some new releases like Dragon Ball FighterZ and Final Fantasy XV. By Silver, we're reaching more indie new game releases like Frostpunk and Raft, and Bronze includes almost all older releases with a few new standouts like Ni No Kuni 2 and Vampyr.
A separate breakdown also goes month-by-month, detailing the top new releases of each month. January was marked by the indie hit Celeste and the fighting game Dragon Ball FighterZ, among others, but it was a slower month overall. February is much more packed, with Kingdom Come Deliverance, Metal Gear Survive, Into the Breach, Secret of Mana, and Dynasty Warriors 9 all making their mark as top sellers. March added Ni No Kuni 2, The Darwin Project, Surviving Mars, and Final Fantasy XV. Other hits included Frostpunk and BattleTech in April, Dark Souls Remastered and Moonlighter in May, and Jurassic World Evolution and The Crew 2 in June.
Valve also provided a list of most simultaneous players. Five games crossed the 100,000 mark, all of them hits from prior years like Rainbow Six Siege and PUBG. Finally, VR got its own top-seller breakdown, with inclusions like Fallout VR, Superhot VR, and Job Simulator.
