The newest season of Stranger Things was a massive success in terms of viewership. According to Netflix, 64 million Netflix member households watched the show over its first month. That makes it Netflix's most-watched original show ever.

A "view" according to Netflix is when an account watches 70 percent of an episode of a show or 70 percent of a movie. The new streaming numbers were revealed as part of Netflix's latest earnings report.

Stranger Things Season 3 opened to 40.7 million viewers in less than a week after its July 4 premiere, so the bigger numbers revealed this week are not surprising. According to Netflix, 18.2 million accounts finished the entirety of Season 3 in less than a week.

Stranger Things Season 4 was announced in October, and the first teaser suggests the show may move out of Hawkins for the new season. Netflix typically releases Stranger Things news around Halloween, so keep checking back with GameSpot for more.

When hype gets to something before I do...I generally never enjoy watching or playing it.

S3 was incredibly lame. Post credits made me laugh. Lol friggin gorgon shuffling around like a florida senior citizen. Vs the russians is played out. Poolside horniness made me roll my eyes, and the hot hunk is also the threatening summertime bully...LMAO. All thats missing is Jennifer Connelly and Matthew Broderick and you have a dead show based on your sad weak childhood. It reminds me of what Jayden smith did to The Get Down.

First half of season 3 was a bit slow but I enjoyed the rest once it got going.

I watched it, but my desire to keep watching lowered with each episode. I think they're moving more towards catering to fan service instead of advancing the original vision. 'Hey, everybody loves this 80s retro energy...let's go HAM with it in S3!' I love 80s stuff as much as the next appropriately old person, but the licensing is going crazy. Product placement! New song every scene! New Coke commercial embedded in the dialog of the show? Com'on...would they have done that if Coke hadn't brought New Coke back to coincide with the release of the show? I mean, I get it, it's a cash cow right now, but I think with each season it's becoming more and more a victim of it's own success.

@lionheartssj1: I could see the telltale signs that they were dragging out the story in season 2 still haven't gotten around to watching season 3 because of it.

@gamingdevil800: I would say you're right with that assertion. There are enjoyable parts, but S3 did very little to advance the story. It even felt like a retread in some aspects, just using different characters to replay certain roles. I believe the Duffers said they had originally envisioned 4 or 5 seasons, so hopefully we'll see more advancement and less aimless pandering. I'm hoping S3 was just them indulging in the shows success and they'll get back to work, so to speak.

I saw the first season but after season one i wasn't really that much interested in continuing watching. Too much boys screaming like little girls i just had enough of it after just one season.

It was pretty good. I mean, cmon none of these seasons are gonna win emmys or knock Mad Men off pedastals, but for what they are ... alot of good fun. Kinda a run down memory lane of the campy horror novels of the 80s like King, Koontz, Saul. Glad the rest of the world is finding D&D through this show, and love it like I did.

3 was better than 2 but worse than 1. It's hard to top the original.

Which is a shame because it was the weakest season of the three and pushed way too far into campy 80's territory rather than being a solid modern horror series set in the 80's. Seriously, film dudes, just because it's an 80's story doesn't mean you have to use every lame 80's reference and easter egg in the book.

Loved the Terminator dude, though. They should start using him in the new Terminator movies. Arnold needs to step aside.

Personally, I felt very let down by Stranger Things Season 3. It started off strong, but by the end they just killed off too many characters, including ones that I would have liked to see stick around, become regular characters, and maybe get some more character development. Also, I felt that the surprise reveal that was one of the characters being homosexual was forced because it made no sense whatsoever in context. Honestly, it seems like that was a last minute decision because it just didn't add up one bit.

@Blk_Mage_Ctype: Also which character being homosexual do you mean? the new girl Robin? or Will? With Will it wasn't confirmed. It's just he's not into girls. . . yet (possibly).

@analgrin: Robin. She clearly had a crush on Steve, but then they when he finally reciprocated, she was like, "What? No! I'm a lesbian, I just stared at you all day in class, drinking in every little detail and am capable of recalling photographically because I was jealous of you because some girl I liked had the hots for you!"

Uh, No... That's not how that works. Honestly, when you are jealous of someone to the point of basically hating them, you don't spend your time staring at them because you can't stand looking at them. You wouldn't watch them eat a bagel, noting every little detail and remember it a year later, that's the behavior of someone who is crushing, not jealous.

It's clear that the show was setting up Robin as Steve's new love interest, but then decided somewhere down the line to make her a lesbian because that's the trendy thing to do right now. If they wanted to have a homosexual character then they should have written one from the ground up, not taken a character they had already established as straight then made her a lesbian at the last few episodes. Honestly, at no point did they ever hint that she was a lesbian, despite the fact that they had a million opportunities to do so. They made her act like a stereotypical tsundere towards Steve at first, reveal to him that she had a crush on him while under the effects of truth serum, then in the last few episodes tried to make it out that wasn't what she was saying. Maybe if there wasn't any truth serum involved then I could buy that, but no, the truth serum was clearly very potent and everything else Robin & Steve said while under its effects was 100% accurate.

@Blk_Mage_Ctype: I thought S3 started a bit weak. The first 3-4 episodes I was constantly getting distracted, messaging people on my phone, making drinks etc without pausing. Then the second half i got more into it much more like the previous seasons.
