Street Fighter 4 Producer Ono Resigns From Director Position at Capcom

Oh no!

Update: Ono has clarified on Twitter that he remains at Capcom, and that this announcement only pertains to his work with Capcom Vancouver. "My position within Capcom has not changed and I'm still involved in all of the projects that I'm currently working on," he said in one tweet. He added separately, "Only my role for Capcom Vancouver has ended."

Original Story: Yoshinori Ono, best known as the colorful producer for the Street Fighter IV series, announced his resignation today from the director position at Capcom Vancouver.

Via Twitter, Ono wrote, "I resigned from the director position about [sic] CAPCOM Vancouver. Thanks good staff of CAPCOM Vancouver, and Dead Rising staff!" He followed that up with the explanation, "I had take some time, I think over very carefully about next things. I'd like to watch TV for Brazil World Cup before thinking it! :D"

We've reached out to Capcom to clarify whether this means he's leaving the company entirely, or if he's just announcing that he's left his current role but will remain at Capcom.

Just a few days ago during E3, Ono dispelled rumors that a potential Street Fighter V would have a "pay-to-win model." However, that shouldn't be taken as a confirmation of Street Fighter V (or that he was working on it directly); Ono added, "We're still in early planning stages and will share more at a later date."

I agree with virtuasega people shouldn't bash Capcom there a great company yes they sell off exclusivity and who wouldn't we all know money is the most important thing in life and exclusivity is the way it should be if you haven't got all consoles then your not worthy of having all games are you? We all know the natzys are the real winners of the world wars so this is the way the world should be its the natty way its the capcom way.

I just hope things don't change as people leave the company.

The internet will be the downfall of gaming. Far to many morons voicing idiotic comments and opinions and just being stupid parrots through it all. Oh look the trend right now is to bash capcom so what do all the brainless tools do...of course they bash capcom until the next trend comes around.

It's so sad That last few year capcom has not released anything good except monster hunter, They wasted so much money on Crappiest evil 6, now they are in big trouble.

Capcom is in serious trouble. They seem like they forgot how to be fun. Capcom has produced MEGA hits and used to be a household name. All Capcom had to show at the E3 was Deep Down and Monster Hunter? That's sad. Capcom needs to go back to the drawing board and remember what made them fun. They need to make a true, horror, epic next gen Resident Evil, a new Megaman, VS. Game, Onimusha, Dino Crisis (just in time for Jurassic World), a next gen super tight Final Fight, an old school next gen Devil May Cry, Street Fighter V and a new next gen Ghosts & Goblins would be cool too. Lost Planet was "lost" after the first game and people "forgot" Remember Me". Capcom has lost their identity. Even Nintendo bounced back.

I'd prefer more outlandish stuff and other ips personally. Star Gladiator as an experiment with F2P fighters, a Chaos Legion take on a souls tittle yet make use of legions, a fast paced 3D MMZ game with new gen cel shading tech.

every big name that leaves capcom says the same: they wear down their creative minds by putting way too much workload on them. inafune almost quit gaming for good back when he left capcom because of that.

"Resigned from the director position" and giving a specific division of Capcom suggests that he's not leaving the company entirely. I would think he would've been more broad about the company and not even mention the position if he were leaving the company. He wore many hats in Capcom so he would most certainly have the skill-set to move to another role.

Wow, this is actually big news if he leaves the company entirely. Capcom is just a shell of its former self.

<< LINK REMOVED >><< LINK REMOVED >> Capcom lost Keiji Inafune, Seth Kilian, and even before that lost Clover who ended up becoming Platinum Games oh and they lost Shinji Mikami. You don't know your news and Capcom has been going on a slide for quite some time now. They don't deserve him anyway.I kinda remember a story where he had to go to the hospital due to stress or something stress related.Capcom is skewing itself with its own sword

this could be a good thing, perhaps we could see some changes for the better to give this series a good kick in the balls.

Well capcom keep rehashing literally the same game over and over again. No one wonder he got sick of it.

From previous interviews I've read about him, This guy really started hating the work mentality around his job. He made it seem that Capcom was working him to the bone and not giving him a chance to breathe. I'm really not surprised that he's decided to leave.
