Street Fighter 5 Getting Five More Fighters
The regular updates for Street Fighter 5 continue with an even more expanded roster in the final season.
Capcom released Street Fighter 5: Champion Edition last year, bringing together a massive amount of DLC under one umbrella. That seemed as if it might close the book on major updates for the fighter, but the company has announced one more. Season 5, which is being dubbed as the final season, will add five more fighters to the roster and three more stages.
Capcom announced the plans on the Capcom Unity blog, but didn't detail specifics on the new fighters or arenas, or how this final season will be priced. Those five fighters will ultimately bring the grand total up to 45, as the Champion Edition introduced Gill.
The blog also detailed a few other community happenings. It pointed out that the EX09 color is free for all players, and outlined a new costume contest that will run through July 21. The two winning designs will be made available in the game. The dev team showed some sample sketches of costume concepts to get the creative juices flowing.
For the time being, much of the attention regarding Street Fighter has revolved around tournament plans being shifted due to coronavirus. Capcom Pro Tour events were canceled in February, and Evo 2020 shifted to a digital event. Street Fighter 5 is still on the playlist for the event, but it's unknown exactly how those matches will take place online.
Capcom alluded to the coronavirus in its blog as well. "We hope that you World Warriors out there are doing well and staying safe!" it says. "We wish you good health and can't wait to see you all again soon."
