Subtitle Patch for Zork Nemesis

Responding to requests Activision has released a patch that will add subtitles to Zork Nemesis

In response to requests from hearing-impaired gamers, Activision has released a patch that will add subtitles to Zork Nemesis. Company spokesperson Jamey Gottlieb said that Activision's "customer service department received a great deal of requests from the hearing-impaired community."

Zork Nemesis, released last summer, features rich graphic and audio enhancements, but lacks the subtitles found in all adventure titles before multimedia computers became standard. Most games now allow the player to toggle subtitles on or off. Zork Grand Inquisitor, scheduled for release this fall, will feature subtitles in the shipping version.

Text adventures, or interactive fiction, became popular with the hearing-imparied community because, unlike many games in other genres, they are played completely without audio cues. Despite advances in computer game graphics, a small but active group of interactive fiction fans still thrives.

The patch can be downloaded from Activision's web site.
