The newest update for Super Mario Run has arrived.

Super Mario Run might not be getting any DLC, but that doesn't mean Nintendo isn't supporting the game with new features and things to do.

A new update for the game released this week adds an Easy Mode and a Golden Goomba event. The Easy Mode provides unlimited bubbles and removes the time limit. We didn't find Super Mario Run to be all that challenging to begin with, but this is a nice option to have for those who want it.

As for the Golden Goomba event, it brings golden Goombas into Super Mario Run's World Tour mode. They will appear throughout the game's courses and are more likely to show up in later stages. Defeat them and you will earn bonus coins--30 for every golden Goomba.

Additionally, you will collect stamps equal to the number of golden Goombas you defeat. If you complete the stamp card, you will earn a special building for the Kingdom Builder mode. Also, the golden Goombas won't show up until after you complete the Kingdom Builder tutorial.

The Golden Goomba event runs February 1-20.

In other Super Mario Run news, Nintendo announced this week that the game has been downloaded 78 million times; five percent of people have paid the $10 to unlock all the courses. Super Mario Run comes to Android in March.

Super Mario Run 1.1.0 (176MB) Patch Notes:

  • Compatibility with new events.
  • Compatibility with Korean.
  • You will lose fewer Toads when losing in Toad Rally, and it will be easier to gather Toads.
  • After receiving the My Nintendo reward Toad, he cannot be received again if save data is deleted. In order to resolve this issue, there is no longer a limit on the number of times Toad can be downloaded.
