Switch 2 First-Party Game Sizes Are Apparently Pretty Manageable, At Least So Far
It looks like Mario Kart World's digital version will take up just under 10% of the system's storage space.
Leave it to Nintendo to attempt to keep game file sizes from growing too large in an age of titles taking up over 100GB of storage space on consoles. A few first-party Switch 2 games apparently won't even top 10GB, with Mario Kart World the only listed title so far racing past the 20GB mark.
The digital Nintendo Store for the US hasn't listed Switch 2 games yet but apparently the Japanese storefront has (via IGN). The site reportedly lists four Switch 2 titles so far, along with the space taken by the Nintendo GameCube app for Switch Online + Expansion Pack premium members.
- Mario Kart World - 23.4GB
- Donkey Kong Bananza - 10GB
- Super Mario Party Jamboree - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV - 7.7GB
- Kirby and the Forgotten Land - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed World - 5.7GB
- Nintendo GameCube app - 3.5GB

Switch 2 will feature 256GB of internal storage space, with the ability to increase the size with microSD Express cards. That means Mario Kart World--if bought digitally--will take up just under 10% of the built-in storage for the hybrid system. Meanwhile, Cyberpunk 2077 will fit on a 64GB physical Switch 2 game card, so presumably will take up similar space digitally. Nintendo has also revealed Game-Key Cards that work similarly to physical cards but don't have the game stored locally on them. Instead, they work as a way to download a title but still must be inserted into Switch 2 to play.
