Sydney Sweeney Set To Star In Split Fiction Film, Helmed By Wicked Director

It's unknown whether the Euphoria and Anyone But You actress will play Zoe or Mio.

The Split Fiction film adaptation has just added some big-name talent, specifically Anyone But You star Sydney Sweeney. The actress is attached to play a leading role in the movie, as either Zoe or Mio.

Variety reports that Wicked filmmaker Jon M. Chu is set to direct Split Fiction, joining Sweeney (who will also executive produce) on the project. Chu's production company Electric Somewhere will back the game adaptation. Split Fiction also has writers lined up with Deadpool and Wolverine scribes Rhett Reeese and Paul Wernick. This wouldn't be the duo's first foray into a video game project as they helped develop Peacock's Twisted Metal TV series.

The Split Fiction movie adaptation has picked up steam quickly. It was only last month that word came out developer Hazelight was working with Story Kitchen on a film for the game, which also just launched in March. Split Fiction creator Josef Fares also seemed unsure whether a film adaptation of the game would actually get made. However, odds have definitely increased with Sweeney and Chu attached to the project.

Split Fiction received rave reviews and saw eye-popping player numbers at launch. In fact, the co-op game is EA's second-most-popular game ever on Steam with over 250,000 peak concurrent players, sitting between Apex Legends at the top and Battlefield V at No. 3. GameSpot's Split Fiction review was also glowing as it nabbed a rare 10/10 score.

Looking ahead, Split Fiction will be a launch game on Nintendo Switch 2. The upcoming system will cost $450 when it arrives June 5.

I mean, I'm happy for Hazelight, but we're still waiting for the It Takes Two movie starring/produced by Dwayne Johnson.

Let's hope that if this happens, Ms Sweeney is a better actress than she was in White Lotus (the only thing of hers I've seen).

@mike314159: Check out Immaculate. White Lotus is an overrated show. Especially the lackadaisical and meandering season 3.
