Syfy Reveals Video For Assassin School Series 'Deadly Class,' Produced By Infinity War Directors
School is tough, but it's tougher when you're learning to be an assassin during the '80s.
Now that Avengers: Infinity War is out and destroying box office records, directors Joe and Anthony Russo have been working on their next project: executive producing Syfy's upcoming series Deadly Class. Today, Syfy revealed a video first look for the new show, featuring the Russos and comic book writer Rick Remender.
The series, based on the Image Comic series of the same name, follows young Marcus Lopez (played by Benjamin Wadsworth) who is recruited into a secret high school called King's Dominion Atelier of the Deadly Arts. The San Francisco school trains its students to become assassins, in hopes they'll become good enough to be the next generation of killers for crime families all over the world.
In the video above, the Russos discuss their love for the comic series and why they brought it to television. Also, the writer of the Deadly Class comic Rick Remender discusses why fans of the comic should be excited. The Image Comic series started in 2014 and was written by Remender, drawn by Wesley Craig, and colored by Lee Loughridge.
In addition to Wadsworth, Lana Condor (X-Men: Apocalypse), Benedict Wong (Doctor Strange), and MarÃa Gabriela de FarÃa star as well, with Gary Hetherington playing the role of President Ronald Reagan.
"We're committed to developing graphic novels for Syfy and have found a rich, compelling, truly unique world in Deadly Class," NBCUniveral's Bill McGoldrick told Deadline. "Our producing partners expertly combined high school angst, '80s nostalgia and comic flair into a beautifully realized, visually arresting pilot that truly brings Rick and Wes' acclaimed comic series to life."
At this time, Deadly Class does not have a specific release date, but will come to Syfy sometime in 2019.
