Tell Me Why Trailer Hints At More Of Its Memory-Bending Story
A new look at Dontnod's next episodic title gives a few more hints at the story you'll explore as twins Tyler and Alyson starting on August 27.
Developer Dontnod's next title, Tell Me Why, is on its way to Xbox Game Pass in August. A new trailer for the adventure game, revealed during Microsoft's Xbox Event, showed more of what to expect as you take on the roles of twins Tyler and Alyson.
The two will use their strange, supernatural bond to try to make sense of their shared past and learn what really happened to them when they were children. You can watch the trailer for Chapter 1 below.
Like the Life is Strange series, Tell Me Why is set to release episodically on PC and Xbox One, although the dates will be much closer together than they were for the earlier series.
Dontnod announced release dates for all three of Tell Me Why's episodes after the Xbox event:
- Episode 1: August 27
- Episode 2: September 3
- Episode 3: September 10
Like Dontnod's other recent games in the Life is Strange series, Tell Me Why looks set to tell an emotional, true-to-life story with a supernatural twist. That twist is that Tyler and Alyson have something more than the bond people often describe between twins--the pair are actually psychically linked and can relive each other's memories. From what we've seen so far, they're using their abilities to piece together information about their mother and some tragic events that happened in their past.
You won't just be passively experiencing the twins' memories, though. Like in the Life is Strange games, choices are going to be a big part of the story in Tell Me Why, with outcomes changing based on your decisions. You'll be able to interact with the memories and "choose memory paths" that'll help you uncover more information. If the stories of Max in Life is Strange and Sean and Daniel in Life is Strange 2 are any indication, it seems very likely that your choices will also have a major effect on who Tyler and Alyson become--for better and for worse.
