The Batman Among The Movies Given The Greenlight To Resume Filming
The UK is allowing filming once again, and the Warner Bros. movie The Batman is among the first the return to production.
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, production for The Batman was halted in March, and then in April, the release date for the caped crusader movie was pushed from Summer 2021 to Fall 2021. However, filming restrictions in the UK have become more relaxed, and The Batman is one of the first movies that will return to production.
The Batman can start filming again as soon as July, according to The Guardian. However, there are new guidelines production will have to follow, which were created by the British Film Commission and the British Film Institute. These rules include social distancing, temperature testing, and safety training. The Department for Culture, Media, and Sport (DCMS), Public Health England, and the Health and Safety Executive have signed off on the new rules, but it will be up to productions to figure out when to go back into production.
"We've worked hard to support the industry through these difficult times, and I'm delighted we've been able to agree this step forward towards getting the cameras rolling safely again," said culture secretary Oliver Dowden.
Aside from The Batman, the third installment of the Fantastic Beasts franchise has been given the go ahead to film as well. There are two other major productions that should resume shortly in the UK as well: Netflix's The Witcher and the live-action Little Mermaid.
Pattison will star in the upcoming Batman movie as Bruce Wayne/the Dark Knight. He'll be joined by John Turturro as crime boss Carmine Falcone, Andy Serkis is Alfred, Zoe Kravitz as Selina Kyle AKA Catwoman, Paul Dano as Eddie Nygma AKA The Riddler, and Jeffery Wright as Commissioner Gordon.
While leaked photos from the set tend to pop up here and there, director Matt Reeves revealed photos of Pattinson in the Batman costume and the Batmobile, which looks like a classic American muscle car, and that's pretty rad.
The Batman will come to theaters on October 1, 2021.
