The Best Stuff In Comics This Week
People often talk about best story arcs, developments, and covers. Here's the other best stuff you might have missed.
Every week, we take a look at some of the most bizarre, exciting, and downright unique things to happen in comics. Check out our choices below of the strange and wacky things that shouldn't be overlooked from this week's releases.
There may be some tiny spoilers below.
SPIDEY #2
Best Lord of the Rings Reference
This series deals with a young Spider-Man, still in high school. Peter may be brilliant but it turns out he needs a tutor for history, partly due to being so distracted with his superhero extracurricular activities. His teacher assigned Gwen Stacy as his tutor and it happens he has a pretty big crush on her. Because he's a little nervous when it come to making casual conversation, when Gwen asks Peter if he thinks he'll pass, he gives a variation of that one Lord of the Rings quote.

Lucky for Peter, Gwen thinks Gandalf rocks.
GREEN LANTERN #48
Best Temper Tantrum
Hal Jordan's nephew was recently injured at an amusement park by a terrorist calling himself Sonar. Hal manages to track down a group of his soldiers. The soldiers end up killing themselves rather than give up their leader. Hal is outraged and lets out his anger in a spectacular fashion.

DEADPOOL AND CABLE: SPLIT SECOND #6
Best Deadpool Commentary on the Effects of Eating Arby's
This is actually not the first time Deadpool has mentioned Arby's. Deadpool gives a pretty graphic description of what happens when he eats too much food from Arby's.

Best Flying Burritos
One can only imagine how bizarre the inside of Deadpool's mind might be. He convinces Cable to do so and it's quite a trip. Why are there flying burritos in Deadpool's mind? We may never know the answer.

There's also an image at a strange looking character that was seen in X-Men Origins: Wolverine but we won't talk about that!
INJUSTICE: GODS AMONG US: YEAR FIVE #1
Best End to a Fight
Plastic Man recently released a bunch of heroes and villains Superman had locked up when they opposed the idea of him ruling the world. Flash comes across a group of them and is quickly outnumbered. The villains are smart enough to quickly give up when Superman arrives.

DOCTOR STRANGE #4
Best Reason Not to Mix Throwing Up with Magic
In a flashback, we see Stephen Strange training with the Ancient One in his early days. It turns out there is a price in working with magic. Strange suddenly finds himself unable to stop throwing up.

That is a good question. Why would his vomit be glowing?
MIDNIGHTER #8
Best Depiction of How Cellphones are Used Today
Some giants have appeared in Rochester and caused some chaos. When a couple get pinned in their overturned car, the bystanders stop to take pictures with their phones rather than call for help.

INVINCIBLE IRON MAN #5
Best Use of a Microphone Stand
Madame Masque has caused a huge amount of destruction at Mary Jane Watson's nightclub while fighting Iron Man and [an apparently reformed] Doctor Doom. When it looks like Madame Masque might be getting the upper hand, MJ whacks her in the head with a microphone stand.

Best Reason We Need to See More Iron Man and Doctor Strange Team-Ups
Previously Tony Stark tried getting Doctor Strange to high five him for being "Awesome Facial Hair Bros." Strange didn't want to have anything to do with it. After helping out Stark, Strange throws Tony a bone and acknowledges that they are indeed Awesome Facial Hair Bros and makes Tony's day.

DETECTIVE COMICS #48
Best Batman Exit
Batman is known for making quick exits at the end of a conversation. Countless times Jim Gordon has been talking to Batman on the GCPD rooftop only to turn around and discover Batman has mysteriously disappeared. Now that Jim is Batman, he gets to do disappear behind Harvey Bullock's back when they're talking in a morgue.

DEADPOOL #5
Best Mad Max: Fury Road Reference
One of Deadpool's enemies has managed to get innocent civilians to try to pose as Deadpool. Out of their minds, we see one believe he can die and come back to life.

SPIDER-GWEN #4
Best TV Theme Song to Sing to Yourself During a Battle
Gwen is fighting Green Goblin because he blames her for the death of Peter Parker. During the fight, Gwen starts singing to herself and starts singing the theme to the Fresh Prince of Bel Air.

HOWARD THE DUCK #3
Best Reaction to Discovering There Are Female Clones of Howard the Duck and Rocket Raccoon
Tara Tam's reaction is probably pretty close to what yours was when you just read that description.

Best Indication That Even an Evil Organization Like HYDRA is Welcoming
Howard and Gwenpool are fighting some HYDRA agents. (Who's Gwenpool? That's a long story). Needing to gain access to the science lab, they find an open door with a HYDRA-brand welcome mat.

PAPER GIRLS #4
Best "Life Flashing Before Your Eyes" Moment
The Paper Girls are in a strange situation. Have they time traveled? Have they been transported to another world? One of the girls is attacked and sees her life flash before her eyes. It involved a lot of playing Breakout on the NES (the story takes place in the '80s). She feels reliving it was hell but we think it's pretty cool.

ULTIMATES #3
Best Reason You Shouldn't Try Messing With the Timeline
The Ultimates are trying to fix big problems. There has been a lot of damage with heroes and villains trying to mess around with time travel. When it's suggested they go back and try to stop someone like Doctor Doom from inventing a time machine, using his time travel tech, Ms. America gives a description of what it could be like--spaghetti that screams.

UNCANNY X-MEN #1
Best Reason a Fearsome Hero Wouldn't Want a Heightened Sense of Smell
Sabretooth, Wolverine's old villain, is still a hero after the Inversion Wave hit him during the Axis story arc. Despite this, he still has no problem putting extreme fear into those he's opposing.

Best Superhero Team Pose
Since this comic is drawn by Greg Land, it's a given we'll see some of the characters standing around in a magnificent pose. It turns out the entire team gets to pose in a grand two-page spread.

WEIRDWORLD #2
Most Glorious Attack on the Hood of a Wizard-Slaying Hot Rod
Goleta fancies herself a supreme wizard-slayer. During an attack, Becca starts driving Goleta's car and the end results are pretty...weird.

SPIDER-MAN/DEADPOOL #1
Most Awkward Moment Between Two Heroes Tied Together
"Unsheathe my katana"? "Spider eggs"? Uhm...

ARCHIE #5
Best Joke
It's not often comic book characters get the chance to tell jokes. Throughout the issue in the scenes where Archie is talking to readers, he attempts to tell a joke about a man with a pet centipede who wants to take him for a walk. Archie keeps getting interrupted before he can deliver the punchline. Eventually he manages to finish.

We'd post the full joke but we gotta go too. We're out of time and space!
