Issac stars with Tye Sheridan, Willem Defoe, and Tiffany Haddish in the new crime thriller.
The first trailer for the upcoming movie The Card Counter has been released. The crime thriller stars Oscar Isaac and it hits theaters on September 10.
Issac plays a former convict turned poker player, who gained an incredible ability to count cards while in jail. The trailer shows that he starts a friendship with a younger player, played by Tye Sheridan (Ready Player One), with whom he shares a mutual enemy in the shape of a mysterious army major played by Willem Defoe (Aquaman). It looks like a tense drama, with a stellar cast that also includes Tiffany Haddish (Girls Trip). Check the trailer out below:
The Card Counter is written and directed by Paul Schrader, whose last movie was the Oscar-nominated First Reformed. As a director, Schrader is known for films such as American Gigolo and Cat People, and he also wrote the screenplays for Martin Scorsese's classics Taxi Driver and Raging Bull. Scorsese is a producer on The Card Counter.
Isaac will also be seen in Denis Villeneuve's adaptation of the classic sci-fi novel Dune, which hits theaters and HBO Max on October 21. Check out the latest Dune trailer here. He will also star in Marvel's upcoming Disney+ show Moon Knight, which is currently in production.
