Death Stranding Movie Reportedly Finds A Director Who Seems Like A Great Fit
Michael Sarnoski will seemingly write and direct the Death Stranding movie after he wraps up work on his dark reimagining of Robin Hood.
The Death Stranding movie has just taken another major step forward, as A Quiet Place: Day One director Michael Sarnoski will reportedly helm the live-action adaptation of the Hideo Kojima-directed game.
According to Deadline, Sarnoski will write and direct the film, which is being co-produced by A24 and Kojima Productions. Sarnoski is currently in post-production on his next film, The Death of Robin Hood, which stars Hugh Jackman as the legendary outlaw. A Quiet Place: Day One received critical acclaim after it was released last year, and Sarnoski's directorial debut in 2015, Pig, was also a big hit with critics.
Kojima himself retweeted news stories about Sarnoski directing the Death Stranding movie, which may or may not mean the news is real.

Beyond that, not much else is known about the Death Stranding movie at this early point in its development. It has been rumored that the adaptation will explore the Death Stranding disaster that brings humanity to the brink of extinction, and Kojima has explained how he wants the film to stand out from other video game movies. Meanwhile, Death Stranding 2: On The Beach has a confirmed release date of June 26 for PS5.
The sequel will feature several familiar faces from the first game, including Norman Reedus as Sam Porter Bridges, Lea Seydoux as Fragile, and Troy Baker as Higgs. New characters will be voiced and based on the likenesses of several famous actors and directors, including Mad Max's George Miller, Elle Fanning, Fatih Akin, Shioli Kutsuna, Alastair Duncan, Alissa Jung, Lucas Larinelli, and Deborah Wilson.
In case you missed it, you can check the recent trailer for the game reveals that Solid Snake is--sort of--in Death Stranding 2 and there's a hint of a Pacific Rim-like fight that features Heartman, who is based on the likeness of director Nicolas Winding Refn.
