The Division Trailer Explains the Game's Many Skills and Mods

How you'll get by in post-pandemic NYC.

Ubisoft has put out a new trailer for The Division that covers the third-person shooter's various skills and mods that players will be able to make use of in post-pandemic New York City.

There are three different categories of skills: medical, technology, and security. One of these, from the medical category, is called Pulse. It gives you the ability to see enemies through walls and other obstacles. One of the technology skills is a sticky bomb (pretty much self-explanatory), while the security skills are all about defensive play; a ballistic shield is shown in this trailer, for example.

All skills can also be modded and upgraded, providing even more options. The flash bang, for example, is a non-lethal mod for the sticky bomb. The video also showcases how, when playing in co-op, a team can work together and combine their skills for maximum effectiveness.

In all, The Division will offer 12 skills and 36 mods to choose from. Check out the video above to see and learn more.

After multiple delays, The Division's full release is now scheduled for March 8. An Xbox One bundle featuring a 1 TB system and a copy of the game will be available at launch. Additionally, you can get the game for free with the purchase of a new Logitech mechanical keyboard.

In other news about The Division, modders have already cranked up the game's visuals on PC.

@Mista_Dubya: grow up with your stupidity assumptions. Ubisoft have already stated there won't be any microtransactions but I guess you and the few who keep floating around assumptions and rumours just can't get there research and information correct.

And if you already played the beta then you already know this....but hey more skills than destiny lol. Now if they had 36 skills per class and had a variety of classes then I'd be on board. Oh and you can only have two skills slotted at once.....so hooray for all the mods that you can't actually use

@Jew1: you make your own class in the division and can switch at any time, you want to be a medic choose medic skills along with long range weapons, want to be a tank, go full health arm or, get medic skills and a shield, sniper with long range bomb go sticky grenades, there's really a ton of ways to make a class on the division mate.

Could even make a some kind of berserker/ assassin lowest of health and highest dps you can get on arm or, if you had shield and a hand gun or just went with a crazy sorry light machine gun, body's are goin to drop, but mite also want medic skill to heal to, there's really no limits can't wait..

@xzerocarnagex: I'm well aware you can change your skills any time as well as during combat...not that it pauses the game or anything. The point is any other mmo lets you have 10+ skills to choose from at once. I mean I get that working with a controller you are limited on button choices but still, have 3 categories but can only have space for 2 active? Idk to me it'd make more sense to map a primary by tapping or hold to select others that you then scan through with the d-pad like when you can heal or hold for various consumables for buffs or tap for grenade eve hold select other Grenades

Nice to see them doing an informative trailer, kind of reminds me of what RockStar does with their games. I'm really liking the many variation of classes one can build with the skill combinations. On top of that, you can change this while in combat and for no cost. No more going to a specific location and paying some type of penalty for this i.e money, etc. very fluid. Looking forward to the BETA again and the full release. This agent is ready to be activated!

@vallee05: If that is true this game is doomed. Combat switching is terrible best system is no price to change but cooldown after firing a weapon or using a skill.

@soarlozer: there are penalties, one it's not a very quick switch in the inventory to make changes to your abilities, especially major changes. If you're getting fire pressure or you getting flanked, you're going to die trying to make the change while in combat, especially against other humans. Second, if you make the switch you disable the current ability being used and the ability resets the cooldown as if you just used it. It's best used when your group is coordinating a specific strategy to attack it's next target and you make the switch then, versus in combat.

I'll give you an example, we were set to flanking rogues but then one group bunkered down on a building top with one entrance, they would kill you before you got off the ladder, we changed our equipment for more health and had everyone switch to the med burst pack, we had 2 members climb the ladder and get shot with health stick from the other two teammate one after another. This allowed us to survive the ambush and get to cover to regroup on the building top and not immediately die or have to leave the area to respec. We killed 3 of the 4 but respawned quick enough to take the other one out before the other teammates respawned. If we didn't do this we would of died over and over again trying to get these rogues. As we get more abilities unlocked you see better scenarios but I don't see any issue from an exploit or anything

12 skills? Wow. Such impressive amount. But that's not all!!! There are modifiers such as giving you access to 3 med kits instead of 2! Incredible, such depth.

@silversix_: yeah you got 12 skills then there's about 5 different variants of that skill to mod so if ever skill can change differently to do different things then that's a lot of different skills. Take Diablo for instance they do it like this, it makes it sound like there's les s but really there's more, it's a more tidyier approach rather than having about 50 skills all in one line where pros mite get confused.

@xzerocarnagex: those "variations" are such as having 3 med kits instead of 2. Very variation.

@leeshunshin: 12 skills and different variants of those skills, stop trying to make out it just has 12 skills, listen to the video properly.

@sampson3121: I agree, preorders have shot through roof everywhere for the division. This game is selling like hot cakes on release. Just let the haterz hate cus they know nothing, can't even do there research rite and just throw rumours and assumptions around like mad.

@sampson3121: Thats good to here, Im pretty damn excited to try it but am wary of another Destiny type let down. The RPG Shooter cross is intriguing. What are your impressions overall? Is getting into a group easy to do?

@saltkillzsnails: the best way I can sum it up is that it's intense, immersive, and it's hard to know who will be your enemy.

group system works well, it's just a click of a button.

they have blizzard conditions in the game from time to time that reminds me of The Thing video game. can't see 10 ft in front of you. tons of weapons, perks , and skills.

can't wait until the 8th of march.

@saltkillzsnails: yeah it's very sociable unlike Destiny. Don't be fooled by prods assumptions, pros have.loved the alpha nd beta, preorders gone through the roof and Ubisoft have gotten it rite to Activision and bungies Destiny. Honestly I couldn't stand Destiny cus I solo played it and felt locked out of a lot of content, raids for the division are so easy and fast to find pros it's actually laughable how Activision and bungie screwed up with the social part of an mmorpg.

Even in dark zones my 11 year old son was able to go around and solo it, yeah you get killed even I did but it's an amazing atmosphere but you can easily invite people when you want, where ever you want. You can even see where your friends are in the game and what part of the map they're on and click on them to invite or join them, there so much to the social side of the division and that's what I was looking out for all these little features. You can't compare the division to Destiny, Destiny got it wrong the division has got it rite..

@leeshunshin: But it's not an MMO... So far you can't play with more than 24 players at the same time.

@pezzott1: Maybe you should look at what Ubisoft calls it, they said MMO, so that's what it should be compared to, even if it doesn't have any quality at all, bad shooter, bad RPG, bad MMO.

@leeshunshin: couldn't be more wrong, have you played the alpha or beta, if not don't say it's bad in any way.. gamers do not go and call some at bad untill they have experienced the final product and the make the decision for them selfs, it's a bit childish to even start saying any game is bad untill then.

@leeshunshin: Thought they said "Online, Open World, RPG". Even if they say it's an MMO (they haven't that I know of), it's not.
