Like previous years, the 2019 Game Awards brought with it a ton of big news--none bigger than the reveal of the Xbox Series X, which is officially the name of Microsoft's Project Scarlett. In what’s becoming an annual tradition, show organizer Geoff Keighley promised 10 reveals during the show, and he certainly kept his word--including many unexpected pieces of news.
Below you can find a roundup of all the biggest news from the show so you can get a quick overview of the main announcements, as well as links out to articles that cover each big announcement in more detail.
The Game Awards Winners
This being The Game Awards, awards were given to games--lots of games. Though Death Stranding dominated the nominees (it was up for nine awards) it wasn't nearly as big of a winner when all was said and done. It didn't win The Game Awards 2019 Game of the Year either--that honor went to Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

Xbox Series X
While Microsoft had previously confirmed its next-gen console as Project Scarlett, at The Game Awards, it unveiled both the system's official name--Xbox Series X--and the hardware's design. It's unconventional looking, to say the least, featuring a PC tower-like design and a square footprint. Additionally, we were able to chat with Microsoft's Phil Spencer to learn much more about Xbox Series X, its new controller, Microsoft's goals, and other topics.

Bravely Default 2
Square Enix announced the third Bravely Default game, which--as the second mainline game in the series--is confusingly named Bravely Default II. Why is that confusing?
