The Last Guardian Director Thinks VR Is "Appealing," But No Plans for the Game
"The scale--the idea itself being able to express a sense of scale through VR--is very appealing and very interesting."
The Last Guardian director Fumito Ueda is excited about the potential for virtual reality to get across a sense of scale, but don't expect the PlayStation 4 game to support it.
In an interview with GameSpot today, Ueda talked about how VR is one of the industry trends he is personally eager to see come to fruition.
"The scale--the idea itself being able to express a sense of scale through VR--is very appealing and very interesting," he said through a translator. "For The Last Guardian, we don't have any plans for that, but personally, I will continue to be very interested in VR."
The Last Guardian's main characters are a boy and a massive bird-dog creature named Trico. We also asked Ueda if the boy had a name; he confirmed that he does, but don't expect the game to tell you what it is. "The boy does have a name," he said. "However, even in the game, it will not be revealed."

After years of development and multiple delays, The Last Guardian launches on October 25. A new trailer for the game was released at E3 this week; watch it above.
Also launching in October is PlayStation VR, which we recently learned comes out on October 13. It will cost $400.
