The Last of Us Part 2 is one of the best PlayStation games in recent memory, and it's officially getting the remaster treatment in 2024. The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered is now up for preorder ahead of its January 19 release exclusively on PS5. Eager to dive into the post-apocalyptic action? Here's a look at where you can preorder the game, along with any eligible preorder bonuses. Side note: If you want to play The Last of Us Part I ahead of the sequel's launch, the remake of the original is discounted to only $40 at Amazon right now.

The Last Of Us Part 2 Preorder Bonuses

There are currently no preorder bonuses for reserving a copy of The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered. However, the game is more than a simple graphical overhaul; the remaster comes with a new roguelike survival mode, exclusive developer commentary, enhanced accessibility features, and new unlockable character and weapon skins.

Whether you're a fan of the HBO series diving into The Last of Us Part II for the first time or a dedicated fan returning for another trip across apocalyptic America, some big changes are arriving with this Remastered edition. Here's a full look at what's new:

  • Graphical enhancements
  • New roguelike survival mode
  • DualSense integration
  • Three new levels
  • More accessibility features

Naughty Dog recently canceled the franchise's upcoming multiplayer game, but the new content in The Last of Us Part II remastered should help keep fans busy while waiting for more news on what's next for the franchise.

I am convinced Allie is trans. She's just too much man for me, lol. Seriously... I hated playing as her. She's a flat chested ox. Like playing a body builder in the apocalypse.

The original looks fine. If I'm going to play this game, I'm playing the original. There are no significant upgrades that make buying two games to play one game worth it. Even more puzzling, if they made the original Last of Us one game, any reason they couldn't do that with this "remastered" version. Just low. Anyway, I'm not paying $80 to play a game I played just a few years ago. And I didn't like it that much the first time around.

Gamers....Do not buy this. They're just milking games now. They should be focusing on making new games instead of wasting resources on so called remastered games.

lol I could see them doing that. I'm trying to envision what they'll release on the PS6 since they only made a dozen original games for the PS5.

For one, this game is just trash compared to the first.

But a remaster already? Talk about milking the industry.

@hardwenzen: This is essentially a "director's cut" of a game that already performed phenomenally well, with a fairly minimal amount of work put into it. It doesn't matter if it bombs, and I don't think it will, given the $10 upgrade option that most people will opt for

this game is already really good and the graphics look up to date without being remastered, so im curious how they're going to make it better

Might appeal to players who did not play it before.

It released 3 1/2 years ago on the PS4. It's being remastered for PS5.

@itsnota2mer: Oh well it's important to remaster games every 3 years or so. If they didn't do that, they'd have to make entirely new games that are worth buying.

@itsnota2mer: But it already ran 60fps and had enchanced graphics on PS5, so technically, it was remastered for PS5 after SP4. Surely the fidelity jump now can't be that noticable?

Does anyone care or thinking about buying this even?

I’m doubtful it’s a big upgrade you would even notice

@shadow6323: I wouldn't mind playing it on PC. I'm sure it will come eventually. All the best Playstation games get ported to PC. There's really no incentive to ever buy a PS5. Especially when the PC version will be able to run at 165+ FPS. Provided you have a good gaming rig.

@Zombie8814: It will never run that well, considering optimization is not where they pour their resources. Just look at Uncharted 4 and Last of Us PC and how badly they are optimized even for the best PC's. And You also don't get the multiplayer which is great fun in Uncharted and TLoU.

@Zombie8814: There's really no incentive to ever buy a PS5 for $500. Especially when the PC version will be able to run at 165+ FPS when it comes to PC 2+ years later. Provided you have a good gaming rig that costs $1500+ to run it at 165+ FPS.

Fixed your comment so you could see exactly why there’s an incentive to buy a PS5

Upgrading the gaming experience of Joel getting beaten to death by a thoroughly unlikable new character from HD to UHD? Seems like a cash grab to me.

But whatever. I’ve lost this argument before. Game companies obsessing about remakes and remasters should be digging deep, going after licenses for games that literally can’t be found anymore or are prohibitively hard to procure. I refuse to believe that someone couldn’t reverse-engineer from a working copy of, say, Panzer Dragoon Saga to rebuild the game from the ground up (yes, I know there’s factors such as “Is there a mass-appeal market for the amount of effort this would take” and other economical points to consider - this is only an example.) But no, let’s re-remaster recent games instead. Who can’t have enough copies of Devil May Cry or Last of Us 1/2?

Soapbox is now put away.

@reaperezekial: This is why games like the remake of System Shock will always get my money. With a supposed remake of Legacy of Kain or Blood Omen happening they'll get my money too. Now, if System Shock 2 would come out already....

Still, there's a want for remasters. Maybe NOT 3 year old games but I'd love to see reduxs or remasters of the og Deus Ex, Thief tDP, the original Fallout, Beyond Good & Evil, ALL the NOLF games, SWKotOR (one day, sigh), etc, etc. Heck, I'd LOVE to see the Resistance franchise remade as well as Metal Gear 4, all the Killzone games and all the Infamous games. Halo already got the remake (meh) and the PS3 had some killer games in their library. The Dark Souls remake was stellar. Now if they'd do Bloodborne already....

@naomha1: So you just want to continue playing the same old games you've played before? That sounds very depressing to me.
