The Last Of Us S2 Ending Hopes To Make You Angry And Emotionally Traumatized, Bella Ramsey Says

The Season 2 ending "will make you feel things."

HBO's The Last of Us has returned for its second season, and series star Bella Ramsey believes the season's ending will leave viewers angry and emotionally traumatized.

Speaking to Collider, Ramsey said by the end of the season, viewers will "feel like they've been on a pretty intense roller coaster."

"I just hope that people keep their seatbelts on the whole time because it's pretty mad. I think that people will hopefully feel really satisfied by the journey of it. I hope people are slightly emotionally traumatized because it's supposed to make you feel it a lot," Ramsey said.

The Season 2 ending "will make you feel things," and that includes anger at the people who decided how the story will play out, Ramsey said. "You might be angry at the showrunners and everyone involved," Ramsey said.

This follows previous comments from showrunner and director Craig Mazin, who said he expects "furor" over Season 2 in regards to the changes the writers made.

"We don't operate to either make people happy on social media or avoid making them upset. We just do what we think is right, and we hope that people come along for the ride and enjoy it," he said.

The Last of Us Season 2 adapts some of the events of The Last of Us: Part II, but not all of them. The show's upcoming third season will continue the story of the second game, but it remains to be seen where the story will cut between Seasons 2 and 3.

For more, check out GameSpot's The Last of Us Season 2 review. As for the game series, Naughty Dog has not announced any new entries, but The Last of Us: Part III could happen if the stars align.

I don't know about you all, but, after I work all day, come home, deal with my kids, cook dinner and basically deal with life, the last thing I want to do is watch TV that "emotionally traumitizes" me. I watch TV to escape reality, to brighten my day, to make me excited to watch TV.

I'm soooo over this stupid IP. Enough with this debbie downer of a show/game. Let's move on from the Last of Us please.

@mwewerka: Watching anything with Bella Ramsey in it "emotionally traumatizes" me. I was so mad when they cast her in it. Of all people. She looks absolutely nothing like Ellie. I didn't think of him as Joel either, but he was fine in the role. I watched two episodes and I just couldn't do any more. And the first Last of US is one of my favorite games.

I refused to play the second one after I read about the storyline and backlash. I guess the gameplay is great, but the story is awful...so I skipped it.

@mwewerka: Just watching anything at all and especially playing games can be very difficult at times. My daughter is two and a half now and for the past year I've basically been going to sleep around 9-10PM lol. Which is very unusual for me. This toddler phase, while rewarding, is also very draining.

I don't mind taking in sad stuff though. Like with music and such, in the moment I feel it, but when the moment is done I snap back.

@mwewerka: Why I stopped watching Breaking Bad. Was it good? Yes. But I rarely said "Man, I want to be more depressed in an hour."

Hell, these days I barely have enough emotional energy for anything more challenging than the Food Network.

If S2 ends how the second game starts, then maybe it should be the last season. I feel like the viewership will drop hard.

@mooglestar: I don't think she's referring to Joel's death, I think she's referring to Ellie killing Owen and Mel and also possibly fighting Abby and losing

If they do the first one and put it off for 6 more episodes, then why did they already show Abby's group arriving near Jackson?

@Spartan_418: Yeah I'm very curious to see how it goes. Like I'd much prefer "that person" to be alive this time around, as it would be a kind of new experience for people who've already played the games. And while I love TLOU 2 I still obviously missed him being in it.

(I don't know how to do spoilers lol)

Doesn't this kind of confirm where the season ends?
