The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2 Has A Title But Nintendo Won't Reveal It Yet

Zelda names are "kind of important" and can give clues about where the story is headed, so Nintendo is keeping quiet for now.

Nintendo has landed on a subtitle for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild's sequel, but the company is not ready to announce it yet.

Nintendo's Bill Trinen told IGN that Nintendo is purposefully holding back revealing the name of the sequel because "Zelda names are kind of important." Reading between the lines here, it sounds like the sequel's title will allude to some kind of story element.

"As for why we're holding back on the name, you'll just have to stay tuned because, obviously, Zelda names are kind of important," Trinen said. "Those subtitles… they start to give little bits of hints about maybe what's going to happen."

He added: "[Breath of the Wild 2] is going to be shorthand and it's natural for people to want to find a shorthand way to frame it. We're still calling it the sequel to Breath of the Wild."

Breath of the Wild 2 is slated to release in 2022 for Nintendo Switch. During Nintendo's E3 2021 briefing, the company revealed a new trailer for the game that may contain some clues about what to expect. Im not immediately wowed by floating continents. Its cool i guess but it really comes down to what they do with it. If it basically just functions as shrines with a new coat of paint then its pretty stupid. Of course i realize it could go the other direction and they came up with some of the most awesome gameplay mechanics imaginable but this definitely isnt the case more often than not. I know a few high demand fan requests were a playable Zelda, legit dungeons and water mechanics. So far they havent decided to showcase any of that.

Still waiting for that King of Red Lions Zelda game. One of few known journeys and battles against Ganondorf in Zelda lore that hasn't been documented in its own game yet.

The music is awful and the shot of a flying Link looks too much like the ripoff game Immortal Fenyx Rising which I played, got bored and sold on Amazon!! Hope they do better than this! And I don't like Link's hair!!!

Every Zelda game has always had a different graphical style. I really don't care for the painty style of BoTW, although I'm sure I'm in the minority on that one but I was hoping they would do what they've always done and do another major artstyle overhaul for the next game. But it looks like it's going to be more of the same painty artstyle. Oh well. Don't really care about the name though. They can call it "The Next Zelda Game" for all I care.

"Breath of the Wild" didn't really give away the fact that it was primarily a seed-hunting game.

Heaven forbid we might even have so much as a hint of what the plot might be about... I mean, can you imagine what might happen if we even had a clue what's going on? We might actually get hyped or something, it could generate buzz by giving fans something to discuss and speculate over, then more folks might preorder the game!
