The Legend Of Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom, Starring Zelda, Launches September 26
A new top-down Legend of Zelda game is coming, this time starring Zelda as the main character.
The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom was announced during the Nintendo Direct--it's a new Zelda game in the Link's Awakening art style. This game stars Zelda as the main protagonist and launches on September 26.
Echoes of Wisdom stars Zelda as she must fight to save the kingdom and Link. Her main power is the use of Echoes, which allows her to create duplicates of any item she finds the echo for. This means tables, beds, and even spike obstacles that she can use to solve puzzles and dungeons.

Mysterious rifts have been appearing across Hyrule, stealing away people, including Link. This forces Zelda to take action, using her new Echo ability to replicate items. During the Direct, it was revealed that Zelda won't fight the way Link traditionally does, instead using the Echoes to fight. She can both create weapons like a rock to fight with, but she can also find Echoes of monsters, which she can use against other monsters in combat.
While there was just a new entry in The Legend of Zelda series last year with Tears of the Kingdom, this is the first top-down Zelda game since the release of the Link's Awakening remake on Nintendo Switch back in 2019. This is also the first mainline Zelda game to feature Zelda as the main protagonist and playable character.
