The Matrix 4 And John Wick 4 Come Out On The Same Day
Keanu Reeves double feature anyone?
Two big Warner Bros. movies finally have set release dates, but they're both a while away. Fans of the Matrix series and DC's The Flash will finally see these properties return to the big screen after 2020. The Flash is being uncharacteristically slow and won't arrive until July 1, 2022. The untitled fourth Matrix movie, meanwhile, won't land until May 21, 2021--the same day that John Wick 4 comes to theaters.
DC superhero The Flash has had trouble getting started. In 2017, the project had already lost two directors due to "creative differences," and at that point, it was revealed the title would be called Flashpoint.
The film was supposed to be released in 2021, but it ended up getting delayed with no new release date set. Earlier this year, a third director left the project, with It director Andy Muschietti in talks to take the reigns.
As for The Matrix, it has been a much less troubling story. The movie was rumored to be in the works in 2017, and there had been other rumblings about whether or not this movie would be a reboot or not. The film will end up ultimately being a sequel and Keanu Reeves will reprise his role as Neo.
The cast for the film is coming together quickly and features Jonathan Groff, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jessica Henwick, and Neil Patrick Harris. Lana Wachowski is returning to direct The Matrix 4 featuring a script by Aleksander Hemon, David Mitchell, and Wachowski.
Matrix 4 arrives on May 21, 2021 alongside John Wick 4. (Keanu double feature?) Meanwhile, The Flash comes to theaters on July 1, 2022.
