Ready at Dawn, the developer behind The Order: 1886 and the VR game Lone Echo, is shutting down today, August 7.

The announcement was first reported by Android Central and a spokesperson confirmed the closure to Gematsu. According to Android Central, Ready at Dawn was shut down as part of Meta's efforts to cut its Reality Labs division's budget. Additionally, the report states that former Ready at Dawn employees are being encouraged to explore other positions at Oculus Studios.

Ready at Dawn was best known for developing the PlayStation 4 exclusive, The Order: 1886. It also developed God of War PSP titles like God of War: Ghost of Sparta and God of War: Chains of Olympus. In 2017, Ready at Dawn launched the critically acclaimed Lone Echo for Oculus, and then joined Meta as part of Oculus Studios in 2020.

In 2021, Ready at Dawn launched Lone Echo 2. Ready at Dawn already suffered a round of layoffs back in April 2023, as part of wider job cuts at Meta. The studio is now another victim of mass video game industry layoffs that have occurred over the past few years.
