The Outer Worlds: Spacer's Choice Edition Features New Enhancements, Out In March

Obsidian's spacefaring adventure is getting a current-gen upgrade.

An updated version of The Outer Worlds will release on March 7 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, bundling the base game with its two expansions--Murder on Eridanos and Peril of Gorgon--together with numerous technical improvements. The Outer Worlds: Spacer's Choice Edition will add higher resolution graphics, dynamic weather systems, overhauled lighting and environments, improved performance and load times, enhanced details on characters, an increased level cap, and more.

Developer Obsidian Entertainment added that for all players who already own The Outer Worlds and its DLCs on Xbox One, PS4, or PC, a discounted upgrade is available through the same console family or PC store for the reduced price of $10. If you'd prefer to buy the entire bundle, this all-in-one version of The Outer Wolds will cost you $60.

The Outer Worlds was first released in January 2016, and similar to Obsidian's cult-classic game Fallout: New Vegas, it mixed action with a strong narrative and decisions that had ramifications on the worlds around you.

Like that game, you were free to be the savior of planets that were facing galactic levels of famine thanks to the greed of corporations, or you could explore the system as a gun-for-hire who only looked out for themselves.

"The Outer Worlds adopts the most compelling innovations of modern Fallout games, emphasizing immersive exploration and impactful, action-oriented combat in a game engine (Unreal Engine) that actually makes those things feel good by contemporary standards," Edmond Tran wrote in GameSpot's The Outer Worlds review. "The Outer Worlds is consistently compelling throughout, and it's a superb example of how to promote traditional RPG sensibilities in a sharp, modern experience."

The Supernova difficulty (i hate survival elements in games) is the reason i never bothered with the game...a game otherwise i would buy for sure.

I was pretty excited for this when it came out and many gamers were because of Fallout Vegas & i was pretty dissapointed..

It's not a bad game it's just didn't impress me..

I think we can all agree that it wasn't 'special' enough to warrant a sequel.

What we all need & want is a New Fallout game from Obsidian since Xbox now owns Them & Bethesda.

~OuterWorlds fans,, what was the main reasons you liked the game?

Im interested in most space like ARPG games & a 2nd attempt is in

my backlog for sure....

@sippio: I liked it, but I felt the same way. My biggest gripe was that when the game suddenly finished, I thought I was at the halfway point in the game. I was shocked it was the end. I also thought that your companions were not memorable. I think the only one I kind of liked was Parvati, and that's the only one I remember. I've been waiting for the DLCS to go on sale to play them.

@sippio: I really enjoyed the writing quite a bit (that's what Obsidian has always been best at). Otherwise, yeah, The Outer Worlds was mechanically pretty boring. But it wasn't a massive 80-hour game either, so by the time the boring combat/crafting/leveling was starting to outweigh the good writing, the game was done and I'd had an overall good time.

@rizenstrom: It sounds like this coming from Private Division, rather than Microsoft (since Outer Worlds was in development before Obsidian was bought and they had a publishing deal already in place with Private Division), so I'm guessing this Spacer's Choice Edition isn't automatically going to appear on Game Pass.

Maybe Microsoft will work something out with Private Division, but right now it sounds like you need to buy this (and you probably wont get any discount if you just have the Game Pass version of the original release/DLC).
