The Forever Purge is the latest movie to have its release delayed.

Comments

Following the news earlier this week that the Purge TV show has been cancelled, there's more bad news for fans of the horror franchise. It has been reported that upcoming movie The Forever Purge has been pulled from its July release slot due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to Variety, The Forever Purge will no longer hit theaters on July 10, and does not currently have a rescheduled date. The movie was set to be the first major release in July, with Christopher Nolan's Tenet and Disney's live-action remake of Mulan currently scheduled for July 17 and July 24 respectively.

Now Playing: The First Purge - Trailer

The Forever Purge is the fifth movie in Blumhouse's hugely successful dystopian horror series, which started in 2012. The film is directed by Everardo Gout and written by series creator James DeMonaco. DeMonaco has previously stated that this will be the final Purge film.

The spin-off Purge TV show was axed by USA Network this week, after two seasons. The series premiered in September 2018 and the second season arrived in October last year, but while Season 1 was a ratings hit, viewers were down by 50% for Season 2.
