The Rock And Jason Statham Face Off In New Fast & Furious Spin-Off Image
"We’re havin' a blast disrupting the norm."
Although we'll have wait to another two years for the next movie in the Fast & Furious series, the spin-off film arrives in 2019. Hobbs & Shaw sees Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham reprise their roles from the last couple of Fast & Furious movies, and it's set to hits theaters next August.
The movie is now in production and Johnson has revealed a new image on Instagram. It's a moody black-and-white picture that shows Statham and Johnson facing each other across table. The caption reads: "We either gonna get along or we gonna get it on." We suspect he doesn't mean in a romantic sense. Check it out below:
This latest image follows another behind-the-scenes picture that Johnson revealed earlier this month. Hobbs & Shaw is directed by Deadpool 2's David Leitch and also stars Idris Elba as the movie's main villain, plus Mission Impossible: Fallout's Vanessa Kirby. It releases on August 2, 2019.
In a recent interview, Leitch explained that he was aiming for his own take on the franchise. "It will definitely have elements of the original DNA, but it is more drifting into Shaw's spy world and Dwayne's agent world and, obviously, we want to build on their relationship, their conflict, their banter," he said.
In terms of the main series, the currently-untitled Fast & Furious 9 is currently scheduled for an April 2020 release. The decision to delay the movie by a year to make way for Hobbs & Shaw caused some controversy last year, when co-star Tyreese suggested that if Johnson were to appear, he would not. This follows the reported on-set feud between Johnson and star/producer Vin Diesel during the production of 2017's The Fate of the Furious.
