The Uncharted Movie Now Has a Script

"If there's a more monstrously cool action script in Hollywood right now, I wanna read it, 'cuz this thing is a BEAST."

Writer Joe Carnahan, who is writing the Uncharted movie for Sony, has finished the script. Writing on Instagram, he said, "Done and dusted. Now the REAL work begins."

Carnahan went on to say the Uncharted movie script is going to blow you away. He believes it's more "monstrously cool" than anything else out there in Hollywood. Additionally, Carnahan shared an image of the Uncharted movie's script title page. Check it out below:

"Done and Dusted. Now the REAL work begins," Carnahan said (via Polygon). "If there's a more monstrously cool action script in Hollywood right now, I wanna read it, 'cuz this thing is a BEAST."

Amy Hennig, who worked on the Uncharted video game series before moving on to EA, congratulated Carnahan on Twitter for completing the script.

Last year, Carnahan said the movie is the "anti-Indiana Jones," which stirred up some discussion. Also at the time, Carnahan said he showed his current draft of the script to Uncharted game director Neil Druckmann, but Druckmann denied having seen the script.

Night at the Museum director Shawn Levy was named the director for the Uncharted movie at the end of October 2016. The movie was previously going to be directed by The Fighter's David O. Russell, before he dropped out. Seth Gordon (Horrible Bosses, Identity Thief) and Neil Burger (Limitless) were also attached to direct at different periods of time. Superbad writers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg were reportedly courted to write a script years ago.

According to the latest report, Sony wants to "fast-track" the Uncharted movie, though a release date has not been announced.

The movie was first announced way back in 2009, only for it to repeatedly fall apart. Actors mentioned as possibilities for leading roles included Mark Wahlberg, Robert DeNiro, Joe Pesci, Amy Adams, and Scarlett Johansson. Chris Pratt is among those to pass on the role of Nathan Drake. We're still waiting for official casting announcements.

I'll be looking forward to seeing that movie. I think Chris Pratt would fit the role of Nathan Drake very well, after seeing him in Jurassic World.

I thought I was playing in a movie when playing these games. Ought to be good for sure. The casting of Nathan Drake, Sully, and Elena will be critical.

Should be good. The tomb raider movie was ok. If this is anything like Indiana Jones, but with a bit more humor and feeling, I'll actually spend money on a movie ticket lol.

So, its just a modern day Indiana Jones movie? Thats what it will be compared to, so prepare for the backlash...

I personally would love to see this movie come to fruition...done properly though. The only person that could possibly play Nathan Drake is Nolan North...period.

All you people complaining about it going to be crap, are just way too negative...it must be exhausting being so cynical all the time.

@TazSteele: uncharted, of all games, is a perfect source for a movie. Movie industry, however, works in a different way. Even if he team on the project really cares about source material chances that it will be crap are pretty high.

The cast will definitely be different, the story will be changed for a wider audience etc.

I'm looking forward o see this movie, but for now, I'm cautiously excited, at least until I see the first trailer.

as long as people keep thinking that videogame movies are going to suck then of course theyre going to suck at the box office. all i read on the web when a new videogame based movie is not on how much it MIGHT suck but how much it WILL suck. quit being a buncha debbie downers and give more of these movies a chance and then maybe you can reserve judgement for it AFTER you watch the movie. makes sense, eh?

I love the uncharted series. Beat them all up to this point. I will give it a fair shot. It's been a long time since we had a good adventure movie like Indiana jones. Ok adventure discovery.

An Uncharted movie actually makes sense since the Uncharted games are essentially ND's attempt at trying to "digitize" a summer blockbuster. Unfortunately, video game movies tend to fail because the directors and actors that produce them rarely ever understand the source material well enough to pull it off.

Uh, who cares if it has a script? How many decades of complete garbage video game movies does the world have to endure before people finally realize that you have a better chance of winning the lottery, than finding a good video game based movie?

Who keeps throwing money at this intellectual diarrhea?

I'd love to be proven wrong, but the long and rather abysmal track record for game to movie productions doesn't' give me much hope for this, nor any other game to movie endeavor that might come in future regardless of how good or bad the source material is.

it can become a good movie. but without the looks and voice of Nathan Drake and companions it will never be Uncharted and disassociation is given. i like the idea of an animated movie i read a few comments below, using all original voice actors. it's mainly because the games already are partly like movies, so at least for uncharted-fans it will be weird to not hear the familiar voices. it can of course work fine for people who don't know uncharted.

this isn't assassin's creed, where the outfit is enough for any actor to give viewers the right feeling and you can tell a story about a new character. uncharted has to be about Nate.

A movie based on uncharted is like a pizza sandwich based off of pizza. Redundant to say the least.

If you need to use words like "monstrously cool" you're trying too hard. This movie has fail all over it.

@sellingthings: the first RE movie was cool as F, had atmosphere and a awesome score and good cast and was pretty fun, I'm not a big RE fan but I loved that movie.....

Silent Hill 1&2 were good and i dig how the second one made the first one's ending make more sense.....the 2 together really do make up a whole story.....

the first Mortal Kombat was good, excellent fighting and Trevor Goddard made a lasting impact on Kano, everyone since has copied his portrayal.....really wish Trevor was still around, he was awesome....watch JAG, he was excellent on there....

the first Tomb Raider was good, it's different from the games in many ways but I think it had to be in order to be good....

I can't say the same for the rest of movies based on games......thanks to Max Payne I now have a zero tolerance policy, I refuse to see game adaptations anymore....

games based on movies....SW is spotty, X-Wing V TIE series, Dark Forces/Jedi Knight series, KOTOR, Republic Commando, first 2 Battlefront games, Empire At War, Rogue Squadron & SOTE are all good games.....

T2 The Arcade Game [literally the arcade cabinet] is fun, Aliens Arcade from the 90's, Robocop vs Terminator [not based on a movie but a melding of 2 movies into 1 game that was fun], the first Robocop arcade game, Scott Pilgrim, Goldeneye 64, Ghostbusters 2009 & The Warriors are all good games.....and I'm sure there's a small handful of others too......

but yeah mostly games made based on movies usually suck ass......the fact there are some decent ones means they're the exception not the rule......

@bdrtfm: I know cus I consider Terminator 1&2 to be two of the best action movies....Predator 1&2 are also really good, Aliens was a good action flick.....any James Bond flick up to Brosnan's exit was good.....IDK though the duo of Spy Who Loved Me and Moonraker for me are my faves, Jaws the henchman, took henching to a whole new level.....

DEMOLITION MAN was epic.....sir you can take this job and shovel it......LMAO

also as a film Uncharted will never top the best of Indiana Jones, Ark & Grail.....Ark alone is the best.....Grail was epic too just cus they got back to Nazi smashing......and seriously the scene where Hitler signs the diary sells the movie.....I died at that part....lolz

oh and die hard......gods you gotta respect a movie where the hero get's battered and keeps coming back.....[McClaine I mean] my point is there's too many good action movies that'll give em a run for their money no matter how amazing the script seems....

Chris Pratt would be perfect for the role. Just offer him the right amount of $$$, and he'll sign the contract. I think Blake Lively could play Elena.
