The Walking Dead: A New Frontier Episode 5 Release Date Announced

A New Frontier's finale debuts this month.

The fifth and final episode of Telltale's current Walking Dead season, A New Frontier, is just over a week away.

Telltale has officially announced a release date for Episode 5 of A New Frontier. It launches on May 30 for PS4, Xbox One, PC, iOS, and Android. If you own the game's season pass, you'll be able to automatically download it then. A physical release of A New Frontier is already available.

No Caption Provided

In a blog post, Telltale describes it as the "most tailored episode to date," given that you'll be working with all of the decisions you've made throughout the previous four episodes. At some point during the coming week, Telltale plans to release both a gameplay trailer and a video featuring some of the developers discussing the episode. Stay tuned to GameSpot for a look at those.

A New Frontier is the third season of Telltale's episodic Walking Dead games. It made its debut late last year, when its first two episodes launched simultaneously. You can read GameSpot's reviews for the first four episodes through the links below.

Good job, only 3 days late in announcing this. Also, that imagine contains a huge possible spoiler. That's more of TellTale's fault, so hopefully they're just messing with us or there will really be determinant fates for certain characters. Not that it ever really matters in these games anyway.

Patiently waiting for this last episode to drop so that I can finally experience all of season 3 without having to wait in between installments. I know Telltale has been doing this for what feels like forever but I can’t help but wonder what would happen if they released the entire game at once instead of installments.

On the one hand doing so would most definitely appease those who are interested in another great story driven tale but on the other end of the spectrum churning out installments periodically keeps your work/game out there in the “spotlight” so to speak. As such it may be in the developer’s best interest to continue with this business model, even though personally I’m not the biggest fan of it.

Hopefully season 3 is as good as the previous 2 if not the best in the series although I would be careless not to point out that it seems to be garnering the most mixed reviews out of the bunch. Guess we’ll all find out when episode 5 drops.

Is this season actually any good though? I've not got it yet and I've heard mixed things but mostly negative. Apparently the episodes are really short now and they removed the whole walking around/exploring/talking to people aspects that I loved about season 1 and 2.

@Klop_Job: I think New Frontier so far has been better than Season 2, even if it doesn't match the highs of Season 1. I've played every episode so far and I found New Frontier's cast to be more memorable (for the most part) than Season 2's characters. I mainly bought the season pass to see Clem's story continued also, but I do like the new protagonist.

They haven't totally removed the whole walking/exploring/talking aspect, I did notice there's less of it though I also feel like I'd rather see it streamlined than holding you from progressing until you've clicked everything. The first two episodes were great imo, it ran out of steam towards the end of episode 3/start of episode 4 but the ending of episode 4 was pretty good. I'm excited going into the finale.

@Klop_Job:Actually I found it much better than the dreadful Season 2. I couldn't manage to finish season 2 and entirely lost interest after episode 3. Most characters in season 2 were complitely unlikeable and the story with this compound was ridicolous. The gameplay consisted of clicking on everything and dreadful sneaking and exploration sequences.

In Season 3 the story and the characters are interesting. It is really great to see how Clementine has evolved and changed. True ... the episodes are rather short, but I cherish short episodes compared to endless sneaking around and the plot will only continue after you have found every clickable element in a scene and touched it at least once.

BTW They do this again in a horrible way in Guardians of the Galaxy which completly breaks up storytelling and immersion. Did't manage to play through the 1. Episode.

If it helps ... my personal order of Telltale Games in descending Order: Wolf - Batman - Borderlands - Walking Dead 3 - Walking Dead 1 - Game of Thrones (because nothing you did really mattered) - Walking Dead 2 - and last AND least Guardians.

@Klop_Job: To me it's easily been the weakest season so far. The episodes are very short and there's not enough Clementine in my opinion. I think this final episode has a chance to wrap it up well and make it a good overall season, but it's going to need to be a really good episode to do that.

@Klop_Job: Played it up to episode three and uninstalled it. Perhaps it got something to do with the fact that one episode comes out almost every two - three months, so... yeah...

@gns: Easy to move on to something else when you suddenly have to wait an undisclosed amount of time until the next installment. Also makes it hard to get back into it too.
