Check out the initial list of supported games here.

Following Microsoft's announcement this morning that the Xbox One will support Xbox 360 games via native backwards compatibility, the company has now published an initial list of supported games.

No Caption Provided

These are listed below. Bear in mind that this list is dated for June 15, and is expected to grow over time.

Xbox One backwards compatibility is available now for Xbox Preview Program members and will roll out to everyone this fall.

Digital Xbox 360 games that you own (that are part of the backward compatibility catalog) will automatically appear in your "Ready to Install" queue. Disc-based Xbox 360 games, meanwhile, will work on Xbox One after you install them.

Xbox One Backward Compatible Titles (As of June 15):

That is a terrible list, I hope they plan on adding a 1000 more. Maybe then there will be a handful worth playing.

Lets see, big wigs at Xbox command are like, how do we up our sales, and get more people to upgrade?? Well let's do backwards compatibility, and maybe people won't realize that there still is nothing out on the new systems that can't be done on the old ones.

This is a tgimic, what they should have done is remastered and updated all there platinum hits.

@alixkid: It's actually genius because if you're only interested in one or two games, you can feel a little more comfortable trading in that 360 and have the best of both worlds.

Sucks you have to install them. I'm already long past the point of having to uninstall One games just to make room. I don't see why these couldn't be played from the disc.

@crunchb3rry: Get a external hard drive like i did. I got a WD 4 TB external hard drive for $130. Have tons of room now.

@Sevenstorms: I'm about to. I'm just worried because any external drives I ever had (like Western Digital's first lineup) crapped out on me. I guess the chances would be lower if I could get a solid state, but that's a huge expense for even half that much storage. I'd like to just get a 2TB SATA. I'm just running out of power outlets.

@crunchb3rry: It's becoming a pain to keep up with the space on these platforms. I feel like I got robbed of 70+GB just on the OS of the X1. They market it as 500GB but in reality once you boot up the system you get like 400GB.

@crunchb3rry: Blue ray drive is too slow to read the disc the same way as a normal DVD drive. The load times would be terrible.

I would recommend a hard drive for your xbox one. I extended mine to 1.5 TB

@MegamanX97: Um, no... it's because the emulator only reads disc image files, not the actual discs. (And can't currently read multiple images, at that.) Multispin bluray drives read DVDs plenty fast.

I want to play Zone of The Enders Collection and Devil May Cry HD collection, hopefully capcom and Konami allow it and are not too focused on whoring themselves to Apple.

PS NOW RULES!! but this is just as awesome. Microsoft had to do something to catch up to Sony and this is perfect for them. I still won't dump my 360 though. I've got a different console in every room lol. But yea, don't hate PS Now because "you already own the game" what about the possibly 100 others you don't? If you own every game that PS Now offers you need to get a life. And if your Internet can't support it then upgrade. I pay 60 a month for 50mbps and it works perfectly. If your in a place that can't get that high then there is nothing you can do so deal with it.

@huddle1: I, personally, would rather pay a one time fee (which I've noticed on ps3 and 360 tends to be cheaper during sales than psnow rentals; eg- $17.99 for 3 months compared to 5 or 10 dollars) so I can actually own the game and play it whenever I want without having to keep plunking down money on rentals.

@huddle1: or instead of just "dealing with it" I'd rather put my money towards the product that caters to everyone not just the people in your situation.

I'm part of the preview program and I can say that it works perfectly, even better than on the Xbox One. Load times are faster, there are no frame issues, and the controls are perfect. My son played Battle Block Theater online and it worked flawlessly. This is something PS Now would never be able to do because of latency.

That is an interesting list. It really was a flashback looking at it. It's nice to see them start from the earlier days of the 360 first.

Lucky I kept my Xbox 360 games so even though Backwards compatibility is a bit late. I'm glad Microsoft has added B/.C for Xbox 360 games on Xbox one. But a game such as Hexic HD was originally included on each Xbox 360 hard drive. So I guess you just download it on Xbox one from the Xbox live store? The other games you just use the disc.

Backwards compatibility for Xbox one is a nice surprise feature. This is the first time B/C has been added after the launch of a console.

The moment when they made this announcement at E3 and you remember you had sold your X360 games for the PS4.
