Late last month, Konami registered the title "Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia" with the US Patent and Trademark Office. Specifically, the Japanese publisher locked down the rights to use the title in "Goods and Services: Video game software, video game programs, computer game software, computer game programs, electronic game programs." It also registered the title in the category of "Goods and Services: Entertainment services, namely, providing online video games," hinting that the game would have an online component of some sort.
Now, more details have emerged about the game, which has not yet been officially announced. This week, a rating for Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia appeared on the Entertainment Software Rating Board's Web site. The industry's self-imposed ratings body gave the game a T for Teen rating due to "blood and fantasy violence."
Most significantly, the ESRB rating revealed the game's platform: the Nintendo DS. If accurate, Order of Ecclesia would be the third Castlevania game released for the popular handheld, after 2005's Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow and 2006's Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin. As of press time, Konami had not answered requests for comment on the two listings for Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia. However, the USPTO listing did come with an official logo for the game.

wow another castlevania for ds! and the main character is a girl (the second girl main character in castlevania after Sonia Belmont in castlevania legends)
Castlevania games are the best experiences available on Nintendo handhelds. Given their success, (and their short shelf-span) expect this new game to be a "must own" title. Get it while Konami keeps it "In Print," otherwise you'll be Ebay shopping for it in a short while. God bless the DS and the format which keeps 2-D games alive. The Castlevania series has suffered through the 3-D era, but the 2-D games on Nintendo platforms keep supplying the gameplay that fans crave. I look forward to what will probably be the best game for the DS when it arrives.
Fan-freakin'-tastic! :D Looking forward to adding it- the DS 2D "castleroid" thing has been working out well... Don't get me wrong, SotN is a JEM- Iga knows it and has revolved many of his current CV games around the SotN formula...I just hope they add plenty of new aspects to keep the franchise fresh.
If another Castlevania for DS is coming out, I'm 100% sure I'll buy it. Dawn of Sorrow was AMAZING (it truly captured Symphony of the Night's instant gameplay and offered an intriguing weapon-creation system that is yet to be bested in the Castlevania series). Portrait of Ruin introduced a new concept in gameplay that was new but easy to catch-on-to, so I'm sure another DS Castlevania title will be welcomed into fan's library of the series many games.
I agree, I'd love to see a new 2D Castlevania, perhaps graphically along the lines of Bionic Commando Rearmed (which I know was made by Capcom while Castlevania is made by Konami) on PS3 or even Wii. Heck, I wouldn't mind if it were done with sprites--SotN is still a beautiful game by today's standards. Either way, I'm interested in seeing what Konami does with the Metroidvania (Castleroid?) formula this time.
I suppose it's good news, but konami definitely has to do something different this time; the last five installments of the series on handhelds have just been far too similar.
no surprice with the ratings there, Castlevania games have been always like that. Still i havent beaten Dawn of Sorrow yet still im excited on this new installment in the series.
Castlevania rules and all, and Portrait of ruin was excellent, but when they say "However, the USPTO listing did come with an official logo for the game." Isn't that image they have there (which I assume is the logo) the same as the logo for any Castlevania game?
