This Battlefield 1 DLC Map Is Going Free For Everyone

Freebies are always good.

Developer DICE has announced that Prise de Tahure--a Battlefield 1 map previously exclusive to owners of the Premium Pass or the They Shall Not Pass expansion--is going free for everyone. The map brings a tense, night-time urban setting and will be going free on PS4, Xbox One, and PC on January 16.

Starting the same day and ending January 22, base game owners will be able to sample some of the content from the They Shall Not Pass and In the Name of the Tsar expansions as part of the Turning Tides DLC's Gallipoli Trial. The event also grants access to some of the new content coming in Turning Tides, the second half of which launches this month.

Some of Turning Tides launched towards the end of last year, but the rest--including the Zeebrugge and Heligoland Bight maps, British Empire Royal Marines faction, and C-Class Airship vehicle--is still to come in January. Looking further ahead, publisher EA and developer DICE say details on Apocalypse, the fourth Battlefield 1 expansion, are "imminent."

Turning Tides is the third major DLC pack for Battlefield 1 to date, with the Apocalypse expansion coming "early" this year. EA and DICE say Apocalypse will include "the most infamous battles of WWI" and introduce the "brutal tools and unique weapons born out of desperation and deadlock."

Another game I don't get. Conquest is suppose to showcase the game, and what you get is a single player skirting the edges of the map to claim a control point. Or flying over and parachuting out over a control point to claim it. Then the rest of us just run back and forth, back and forth, rinse/repeat and that is the game. You should have to have a squad strength or something to claim a point which would then invalidate those sort of tactics.

Problem with BF is we just get a re-skin of the same game. Not a bad game, but not great either. With a bit more thought on the tactics could be a lot better. Game gets boring quick if you don't have a good team to play with.

I played the greater part of the EA catalog on Origin, including BF1. All I can say is there is a reason why you get all these games for $30 for one year....and it’s not because they are good or even super fun to play. It’s a $30 I wish I could get back.

After playing Overwatch, I finally understood how shitty this Battlefield is. The game itself can become messy, as a bonus their server sucks, laggy as hell. I can let that pass because of the insane amount of player, but the erratic gameplay is always there regardless. I will never buy a EA game ever again, they don't deserve a single cent.

What a sad day when people call this the best BF ever. Doesn't bode well for the future of the series.

@Litchie: I have played every single Battlefield starting from the very first back in 2001.

It's easily one of the best Battlefield games ever. I like nothing more than playing this with friends and jumping into some Frontlines and Operations games.

@ltjohnnyrico: Judging by how good BF has been in the past, I'd say BF1 is "ok". I understand watering down is necessary for consoles, but I'd love them to go back to awesomeness some day.

@ltjohnnyrico: according to bf1 stats. PC gets 24k peak a day, now it's 11k. I clearly remember EVERYONE ranting that TF2 was DEAD with its 12-15k players. And these rants killed TF2 btw.

@ltjohnnyrico: lol exactly what I told ppl when they crashed TF2 for being dead with 15k players. I know - everything >10k is solid good and means lots of servers. But BF1 is boring for me.

@g4m1ngon: Boring for you maybe .. but your point was "who plays BF anyway?" .. and many many people play it! I split my time between BF1, PUBG and CS:GO mainly but play other games too.

@g4m1ngon: about 120K people across 3 platforms. Its doing quite well considering the games that have since come out. It is also arguably the best battlefield ever.

@og_gamerzzz: Conquest has vehicles .. Just pick conquest from the menu you are not forced to play the other Games! I know this as I pretty much only play hardcore Conquest! Also snipers are easy to beat ... use cover (Most Maps have plenty) If you run around in the open then you are asking for trouble!

@og_gamerzzz: What the heck are you talking about? If you are playing Conquest there are vehicles on nearly every map. And you simply have to gain experience to use them. Battlefield has been like that since at least Bad company 2.

@spartanx169x: I think he is talking about the most popular maps, they are usually focused on infantry. Like that map featuring a destroyed city with a train line cutting the middle. It has vehicles, but infantry is the focus. Or the forest map, etc.. When the server has a vote system, it's almost guaranteed the majority will chose those maps over any other.

@gleencross: Infantry based combat is better makes for more balanced Gameplay, I loved BF4 but many in the forums did complain about people just sitting in tanks and helicopters spamming everyone .. not to forget that WW1 was a more infantry based war!

Wish this game had more love. I mean, theres still plenty of ppl playng, but if you play for 2 hours, you'll be killing a lot of dudes you already killed in other games before. And right now, for 60, this is a great game (it includes the dlc with that price). The other day it was on sale for 30 (psn), thats a steal imho.

EDIT: The gameplay here is golden. Easily the best fps to play (on ps4) righ now. And the fact that i love ww1 and ww2 history material helps a lot.

@everson_rm: Well, the game performance sucks, that's their achiles hell. I have the best domestic internet service in my country and the game still lags like hell. And I know friends who suffer a similar issue. When the game itself is already repetitive with balancing issues, you add to that terrible lags and slow-downs... It literally becomes unplayable.

French maps are the best in Battlefield 1 for sure.

The russian and gallipoli maps are ok, but they are just nowhere near as fun and replayable as the french maps.

@og_gamerzzz: For me Battlefield 1 is better than 3&4 because me and my mates can't get enough playing Operations and Frontlines.

Shame to hear you get tired of BF1 so fast, I literally spent the entire weekend playing Operations and frontlines, lol.

Got home from work today, played a match of operations :D

@og_gamerzzz: Not correct dude, people just think sniping is easier.

I noticed that assaults, medics and support have way better odds getting on top of the scoreboard than scouts.

I never play sniper anyway, I always take a WWI infantry rifle.
