Three New Xbox One Backwards Compatible Games Now Available

Three more 360 games are now playable on Xbox One.

Microsoft has added another new batch of games to Xbox One's backwards compatibility catalogue. Three more Xbox 360 titles are now playable on the current-gen console, including a critically acclaimed shooter from Bayonetta developer Platinum Games.

Headlining the newest backwards compatible titles is Vanquish, Platinum's stylish, fast-paced third-person shooter. Joining it is Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, the co-op Tomb Raider spin-off released for Xbox Live Arcade in 2010. Rounding out the batch is Brave, the video game adaptation of the Disney/Pixar film of the same name. The latter is also one of March's free Games with Gold titles for Xbox Live Gold subscribers.

Now Playing: Why Do People Love Vanquish So Much?

As usual, if you own a physical copy of any of these titles, you can now pop the disc into your Xbox One and start playing. If you happen to own any of the games digitally, it will automatically appear in the Ready to Download area of the My Games and Apps section. You can also purchase any of the backwards compatible games from the Xbox Store, though unlike last week's additions, none are included in the latest selection of Xbox game deals.

Microsoft has been regularly expanding Xbox One's backwards compatible library with new Xbox 360 games. Most recently, Mafia II and 2006's Prey were added to the catalogue. Microsoft also rolled out the first batch of original Xbox backwards compatible games back in October, though those won't be added as frequently as 360 titles. The next wave of original Xbox games is slated to arrive sometime this spring. You can find the full list of Xbox One backwards compatible games here.

As previously mentioned, Brave is one of the four free Games with Gold available in March. Xbox Live Gold members will also be able to download Trials of the Blood Dragon, the inventive time-manipulating shooter Superhot, and the first-person puzzle game Quantum Conundrum next month.

Vanquish is awesome and it's visual identity can kick the "oldie graphics" argument. Get it.

Vanquish was a great game, but I can't say it's a must-have. Throughout the game I kept feeling like something was missing. Yes it's over-the-top crazy action but at the same time it feels a little bit dead.

@KimCheeWarriorX: The link to the BC list is right there in the article, how lazy are you?

But to answer your actual question, no. PD:O is not on the BC list...

Because unlike todays promised uncompromised 60fps from the X. Vanquish runs at a rock solid 60fps on 360!! And that's what I've played it on. So here again we have people buying a 500$ (well not EVERYONE) machine to play old 360 titles on. Money well spent, yeah? Uggh.

@xcael: Go watch the old videos leading up to launch. Also E3, and the commercials, you must not have watched. Where do you think the QUOTE came from. MS's own mouth. ;o)

@bubba_666: To be fair, I think that statement was in regards to Forza 7. Microsoft only really claims anything when they are showing off a Forza title. There are LOTS of 60fps games on the X, a surprising amount compared to what I was expecting. It is still a console after all. I don't regret getting the X even though I have a vendetta against the evil that is still Microsoft.

Vanquish was an amazing game, but I never finished it... Always so much on the various gaming plates.

Those two Lara Croft diablo-esque games are a lot of fun on couch co-op. I keep a 360 in the garage for warm days when I want to game outdoors, and co-op is made for outdoor gaming.

@Pyrosa: Played the demo back in the day, seemed fun, but I never bought it. Probably going to pick it up now.
