In January 2005, Atari announced it was publishing TimeShift, a new first-person shooter from Saber Interactive (Will Rock). The game allows players to stop, slow down, and even reverse time. They will use this ability to freeze opponents and solve complex puzzles, which will be a recurring feature in the game's 30 combat missions.

Originally, TimeShift was announced for the Xbox and PC, with Saber also listing a PlayStation 2 version of the game on its site. Seven months later, the PS2 version went missing and the Xbox edition became the Xbox 360 edition. Another seven months on, the title was sold to Sierra Entertainment, which pushed the game's release back to 2007 so its "full potential could be realized."

Today, Sierra dated that realization. In a brief announcement, the Los Angeles-based division of France-based Vivendi Games nailed down the North American release date as October 30 for the PC and Xbox 360. [UPDATE] After some initial confusion, Sierra has clarified that the PlayStation 3 version of the title will arrive several weeks later in December--no reason for the staggered ship dates.

Rated M for Mature, TimeShift will retail for $59.99 for consoles and $49.99 for the PC. GameSpot's previous coverage has more information about the temporal-warping action title, including a recent exclusive preview.
