Titan Quest add-on goes gold

Development of Immortal Throne expansion to THQ's action role-playing game complete; game ships to stores March 5.

THQ's Titan Quest, released last June, was known for having a lengthy single-player campaign that pushed the 40-hour mark. For gamers who just finished the game, THQ has a message for you: You aren't done.

Titan Quest: Immortal Throne.

The first expansion to the game, Titan Quest: Immortal Throne, has gone gold and will be shipping to stores on March 5. Developed by Iron Lore Entertainment, Immortal Throne adds approximately 12 hours to the game, according to Iron Lore president Brian Sullivan.

Those hours will be spent taking on new quests and monsters in an original storyline. Features added to the game include a new skill mastery system, eight new playable character classes, and hundreds of unique weapons.

Titan Quest: Immortal Throne is rated T for Teen and will retail for $29.99. For more information, read GameSpot's previous coverage or check out the review for Titan Quest.

I might get it or I might not. It all depends on my mood and on the quality of the expansion.

$29.99 for 12 extra hours of game play. Let's see...that boils down to $2.50 an hour for one play through. And if you're going to play through it on all 3 difficultes that'll bring the cost/hour down to about $.83/hour. Then, If you have multiple characters the price/hour drops even further. With the sheer # of character class combos you can create, I only have 1 question to ask...What seems to be the problem with the price?

Any Diablo/DS fans would be mad to avoid the TQ games. It's good, solid action RPG fun -- with arseloads of loot.

For anyone who loved Titan Quest, Immortal Throne is a must have add-on. The addition of the Dream mastery alone adds in a tonne of replay value to a game that already has that in spades. The original game came with what amounts to 28 dual-classes and eight single classes. The Dream mastery extends that to 36 dual-classes and nine single classes. That's 45 mastery combos! That's not even taking into account all the skill tree choices you can make to customize your character. To me, that's why TQ:IT is a must-have. Not even D2 offered that much replay with different classes.
