Titanfall 2: Higher Frame Rates Not Ruled Out for PC

Respawn also reiterates that there won't be cross-play.

The Titanfall 2 beta was not available on PC, so gamers planning to pick up the game on that platform understandably have some questions. Developer Respawn recently answered some of these as part of a Q&A session in its forums. One topic that came up was the game's frame rate cap at 144 FPS.

Someone asked if Respawn might consider increasing the frame rate limit or uncapping it altogether. Producer Drew McCoy said the studio may look into this later, but early tests were not promising. "We can investigate slightly higher framerates, but in initial testing we ran in to some issues with incredibly high framerates," McCoy said.

He also reiterated that Titanfall 2 will not support cross-platform play between PC and console. "As much as I personally think cross-platform play would be awesome, it unfortunately will not be in the game at this time," McCoy said. He added that Titanfall 2 will be released on PC through Origin, though it's not immediately clear if this has anything to do with why there is no cross-play.

Previously, Respawn said cross-play was unlikely but not completely ruled out.

Also in the forum post, McCoy said the "effects details" slider will let players choose low, medium, and high for things like particle effects and decals, among other things. Additionally, he confirmed that there will be the option--on PC and console--to disable depth-of-field when aiming in multiplayer.

Finally, McCoy said he's heard players' requests for the ability to disable aim assist and boosts for private matches. These items are on Respawn's list of things it plans to investigate for the future.

Titanfall 2 launches on October 28 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. That's just one week after another big-name EA game, Battlefield 1, comes out for the same platforms.
