Titanfall 2's First Free DLC Map Comes Out Next Week Alongside Microtransaction Store

Titanfall 2's first free DLC map will come out on November 30 for some people, developer Respawn announced in a blog post today. As announced previously, the map is an updated version of the first game's Angel City, which comes to the game in the Angel City's Most Wanted update.

The map launches on November 30 for people who preordered Titanfall 2; everyone else can download it starting on December 3. The update that adds the new map will also introduce some other items like weapons and Titan abilities (see the full list below), while an in-game store is also being added.

All Titanfall 2 DLC maps and modes are free, but you can buy comestic things like skins, camo, and Prime Titans in the store for a "modest price," Respawn explained. Specific price points were not announced, but we should know more next week when the in-game store arrives.

Looking beyond Angel City's Most Wanted, Respawn will release future expansions that will vary in "size and scope." The developer will officially reveal these in 2017.

As for what else is coming this year, Respawn said players can expect "semi-regular" events where Respawn will offer playlists with revised rulesets, though specific changes weren't shared. Respawn will also hold double XP weekends later this year, while the developer plans to spotlight Titanfall 2 Networks that catch the studio's eye.

"We are committed to supporting Titanfall 2 for the long haul," Respawn said.

This echoes what EA CFO Blake Jorgensen during an investor briefing this month, when he said the company is taking a long-term approach to the Titanfall franchise. Jorgensen added that Titanfall 2 first-day and first-week sales might not be so great.
