It's a good thing we already know Titans has been renewed for a third season on DC Universe. The Season 2 finale ended with a cliffhanger that is sure to leave you wondering what happens next. Unfortunately, it'll be a while before we find out.
Warning: The following contains spoilers for the Season 2 finale of DC Universe's Titans, "Nightwing." If you've yet to watch the episode and don't want to be spoiled, look away now.
A lot happened in the final episode of Titans Season 2. Dick (Brenton Thwaites) debuted his new Nightwing persona and costume, Deathstroke (Esai Morales) was killed, Conner (Joshua Orpin) and Gar (Ryan Potter) were freed from the mind control they were under by Project Cadmus, and Donna Troy (Conor Leslie) died while saving Dawn (Minka Kelly). Even with that loss, though, the stage is set for a bigger and more powerful--and united--team of Titans than ever when the series returns. And based on the final seconds of "Nightwing," a bigger and more Powerful team is going to be necessary.
After a season of hunting Kory (Anna Diop), Blackfire (Damaris Lewis) has finally arrived on Earth. The supervillain is the sister of Kory/Starfire and also the queen of their home planet--Tamaran--after killing their parents. Now she's hellbent on finding her sister and bringing her back to Tamaran at any cost.
In the comics, Blackfire has powers similar to those of Starfire, and she's potentially even stronger. And unlike her sister, Blackfire uses her powers for nefarious purposes. Those who remember Season 1 of Titans will recall that Kory was similar at first, as she was sent to Earth to kill Rachel (Teagan Croft). Instead, she's become a Titans member and counts Rachel as one of her closest allies.
That means Blackfire's arrival on Earth isn't just bad news for Kory. Given that she never carried out her ultimate mission--killing Rachel--the young empath is certainly in danger. You're going to have to wait just to see how much danger she's in, though. In the meantime, she's traveled with Donna's remains to put her to rest. That might keep her safe for the time being.
While Titans has been renewed for Season 3 on DC Universe, there's been no confirmed premiere date. Chances are you'll see it in October or September, based on previous season premieres, though.
