Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream Coming To Nintendo Switch In 2026
The wacky Mii-centric life sim returns on Switch next year.
During today's Nintendo Direct presentation, Nintendo announced a new installment in the Tomodachi Life life-sim series--Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream. It is set to launch for Nintendo Switch in 2026, and it will be the first Tomodachi Life game since the original launched in 2014.
Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream lets players create Mii characters and make them the citizens of a tropical island, where they can live lives filled with wacky situations. In one scene, we see two Miis throwing trash at each other during a heated argument, while other shows a Mii sleeping on a bench, where she dreams of a giant Mii approaching and asking her a question.
The previous Tomodachi Life game on 3DS featured Mii characters both created on the device and collected through the StreetPass feature. Players could assign Miis to specific rooms of an apartment complex, and then watch and interact with them as their lives played out in brief vignettes.
The new Tomodachi Life game served as the final game announcement for the Nintendo Direct, which also featured updates for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, Pokemon Legends Z-A, and Dragon Quest 1 & 2 HD-2D Remake. This Direct was centered on the original Nintendo Switch, and the next livestream on April 2 will feature the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 console and games.
Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream is scheduled to release in 2026 exclusively for Nintendo Switch.
