The video games industry is no stranger to novel promotional activities surrounding the release of big games, but they're usually coordinated by the publishers, not the retailers. In the case of Gran Turismo 5, though, EB Games Australia is taking the initiative and has just announced that its stores will be accepting toy cars as credit towards the game.

Each toy car that customers bring in will be worth 50 cents, and the offer is valid only on the day Gran Turismo 5 launches (25 November). While this news comes just 48 hours out from the game’s launch, that's still two days to rummage through cupboards looking for old toys. While it might sound like a bit of a cheap gimmick, EB Games promises to donate all of the toy cars that it receives to a local charity.

It's also worth noting that you'll be able to trade in a maximum of only 20 cars, which equates to A$10 off the game. For more info on the deal, check out the official EB Games website.
