Ubisoft Shareholder Urges Company To Make Drastic Change Amid Sinking Stock

A minority Ubisoft shareholder publicly urged the company to make overriding changes to its strategy amid a slide in its stock price.

Ubisoft's ongoing stock woes continued this week as a minority investor called for the company to go private and change its overall strategy, triggering yet another slide in the company's price.

In a public letter to management, the Slovakia-based hedge fund AJ Investments expressed "deep dissatisfaction" with Ubisoft's performance and strategic direction. The letter cited recent quarterly results as disappointing due to delays to games in notable series like Rainbow Six Siege and The Division, as well as a lowered revenue outlook for Q2 2024. (According to the Wall Street Journal, AJ Investments owns less than 1% of Ubisoft's overall stock.) The letter further calls for Ubisoft to go private or to allow itself to be sold to a strategic investor.

Ubisoft's stock has slid in recent weeks due to a variety of factors, including Star Wars Outlaws reportedly not meeting sales expectations and dwindling player counts in would-be Call of Duty competitor XDefiant. The company's next major release will come on November 15 with Assassin's Creed Shadows, a highly anticipated entry in the series that fans have wanted for years. Ubisoft has remained stubbornly independent (and public) as many other gaming companies of its size have been purchased by even larger players in the industry, most notably Activision. Tencent did buy a minority stake in the company in 2022, but it has no board seats.

LOl why would the guillemot bros worry when they own all of ubi, a -1% shareholder they can wipe their butt with his open letter. Ubi top brass is still culling the folk that complained about crunch and gender BS, they cant fire them outright but they can cite sliding stock to cull the herd due sliding sales, expect a 10% herd culling as a Xmas gift.

I think you might be missing a little context here in relation to an international diplomatic incident. But what do I know.

The theme songs of this article:

Carole King - It's Too Late

Beth Hart - Why Don't You Do Right

:DDD

Even if Ubishit had released Prince of Persia Redemption that's the most wanted Ubishit game that they still don't release, they still cannot recover ayy lmao. Well, they are late anyway for Unknown 9: Awakening using pretty much the same cool idea so Ubishit missing the train lol.

"Call of Duty competitor XDefiant"?

Competitor of Call of Duty? Bruh. It cannot even compete with Insurgency ayy lmao.

"The company's next major release will come on November 15 with Assassin's Creed Shadows, a highly anticipated entry in the series that fans have wanted for years."

Not gonna lie, an Assassin's Creed game that take place in ancient asia as a ninja was an idea I wanted like a decade ago, now I have no care about new Assassin's Creed games. Ubishit turned the series into a weird japanese RPG and killed the interest when the series was high on interest and now when people don't care about the series they give what people want, however they are too late. Sometimes I play AC Syndicate to beat 'em up some random bloke and throw them into the Thames to feed the fish and that's all about my interest left in any Assassin's Creed game lol so despite AC Shadows they cannot take my money.

@chriss_m: What an ignorence lmao. They implemented level system without level scaling therefore player needs to gain EXP and level up until they can beat the enemy and not to mention you do require better weapon to kill enemies. Weapons have "magical" stats that grant supernatural abilities. This is pretty much fundamental of JRPGs as they don't need to be turn based necessarily. This was the state of new Assassin's Creed games before I completely started to ignore the series.

However rest of RPGs, especially american RPGs are different than JRPGs. They don't necessarily have level system so no level scaling or no need for better weapon to kill enemies. They may don't even offer any stat or skill unlocking and they are not needed to kill enemy too.

Before JRPG BS you could complete all side content of the game without having any need of leveling in Assassin's Creed game but after some point you need to grind level and better gear to kill enemies and avoid being killed with one shot to complete side content and this is pretty much a JRPG BS.

@chriss_m: it’s a strange turn from everyone loving the RPGs to just screaming the same negative shit people are tripping over themselves to bathe in. I can’t think of a time Ubisoft ever came up to me and told me they were my friend.
