Ukrainian Studio Behind Stalker Releases Statement As Russia Launches Attacks

"The future is unknown, but we hope for the best, are ever sure of our armed forces and our belief in Ukraine."

Vladimir Putin and Russia have launched attacks on Ukraine and begun to invade, and one of the major game developers from the country has released a statement. GSC Game World, which makes the Stalker video games, said this morning that Ukraine will fight to defend itself and persevere through this trying time.

"As of today, the Russian Federation has officially declared war on Ukraine. Our country woke up to the sounds of explosions and weapons fire, but is ready to defend its freedom and independence," it said. "For it remains strong and ready for anything. The future is unknown, but we hope for the best, are ever sure of our armed forces and our belief in Ukraine."

GSC encouraged game developers and fans to share its message in their news feed, calling on them "not stand aside and help those in need."

"Through pain, death, war, fear, and inhuman cruelty, Ukraine will persevere. As it always does," the studio said. The developer is planning to release Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl later this year.

GSC Game World is headquartered in Kyiv, and many there are attempting to get out of the city and heading west seeking safety and refuge. Dozens of Ukrainian soldiers have been killed in their defense of the country, The New York Times reported.

GSC Game World is not the only Ukrainian video game developer, as Metro studio 4A Games was based in the country before moving its headquarters to Malta. Ubisoft and Wargaming have studios in Ukraine. The local game development scene has been growing in the past decade, and now it's believed the Ukrainian game development community employs thousands of people.

US President Joe Biden has condemned the attacks and has promised to "hold Russia accountable for its unprovoked and unjustified attack on Ukraine."

As they flee the country, they ask us for help and talk about persevering through "inhuman cruelty." Hah. They had plenty of time to negotiate with Russia, but chose to snub them instead. So it comes to war. That's reality. We Americans are no strangers to war. All these pretty words mean nothing. Power is all that matters and if the sympathies of the Ukraine government were not with us then we would be the ones invading.

Many stay not only because they want to defend but some can’t go anywhere (let see if you’re smart enough to think who) so these donation is to help them go through. And most food comes from Russia but now surely has been cut off so….. think before you speak dumbo……

I'm afraid to even ask, but negotiate what exactly?

@thecupidstunts: Ukraine's relationship with the US and desire to join NATO. The independence of Donetsk and Luhansk. In other words, the self-determination and safety of Russian minorities in Ukraine and Russia's national security concerns. A country still has security concerns even if you don't like its government. Much like North Korea still has a legitimate reason to develop nuclear weapons for self defense. In fact, governments have an obligation to defend their territories no matter kind of government it is.

@thecupidstunts: The eastward expansion of the USA. Why do you think Russia intervened in Syria? I'm starting to think most Americans aren't even aware that we invaded and are currently occupying them. It was inevitable that we would meet resistance at some point.

@revengeance: Russia has never been occupied by the US. Ever.

But for what it's worth, Russia continues to illegally occupy Ukraine's Autonomous Republic of Crimea, the city of Sevastopol, certain areas of Donetsk and the Luhansk regions. 🤷‍♀️

@thecupidstunts: I said we are occupying Syria. Russia is not going to wait until we are crossing their border to push back. That's their privilege as a major military power.

@revengeance: OK, I'm going to try and put this as nicely as I can. I'm unsure if you're trolling, or if Ivan Drago from Rocky 4 was your history teacher, but you seem to definitely be misinformed about many things.

The US is NOT occupying Syria. We have around 900-ish soldiers in Syria. Not TROOPS, soldiers. That is not an occupation by any stretch of the imagination, (if we were occupying Syria, I guarantee you al-Assad would not be in charge). You definitely misunderstand what it means to occupy a country.

And there is absolutely no logic or facts behind your assertion that we would push into Russia, it makes no sense at all. By "we", do you mean NATO, (because even that doesn't really play out).

What Russia is doing is indefensible. Period.

@thecupidstunts: I didn't say we were occupying all of Syria, only part. I can tell you are in a highly emotional state and unable to think clearly. I didn't say the US has plans to invade Russia. I said that Russia does not have to wait to be invaded to take military action to counter the eastward expansion of the US and NATO.

@revengeance: "I didn't say we were occupying all of Syria, only part". - You still don't understand what an occupation means. It doesn't mean a simple physical presence, it means that a hostile force is controlling a country. Mince words any way you want, the US is not occupying Syria.

"I can tell you are in a highly emotional state and unable to think clearly." - Sorry, but gaslighting me won't work, (and it's a very obvious go to when people realize they're wrong, but don't want to own it). Compared to how abruptly others responded to you in this thread, I think it's safe to say that I'm not in a "highly emotional state", (whereas I chose to actually engage, and hear you out).

"I said that Russia does not have to wait to be invaded to take military action to counter the eastward expansion of the US and NATO." - Except that no one was attempting to invade Russia, so that premise is just one big strawman.

I guess in the end, we'll simply have to agree to disagree on this. No matter how our opinions may diverge, I'm glad that we were (mostly) able to be civil with each other.

Most russinas are apparently not against the war, the majority of russians have kept the Moronic Putin in power for so long that theres zero democrecy left in the country, putin and his jakels are doing what they want and the russian people dont care, Europe has been sleeping and now their naivity and tradings with a psycopath has backlashed bigtime, as much as i do not like Trumph he was the only one telling stupid europe to wake up and invest into NATO, also China is showing their ugly face by saying its not a "real" invasion" probably just scheming on how to scoop up Taiwan when all eyes are on Ukraine, we in the vest have to stand together or we will have to bow to tyranny. Just know that the next time you buy a items made in China you are alsso supporting Russia as China will keep buying gas&oil to fill Putins coffer.

@ormgaard: “Trumph he was the only one telling stupid europe to wake up and invest into NATO.”

I can only assume that's a joke.

So you're saying the way Trump voiced the value of NATO,
was by relentlessly parroting it was a scam, a waste of money, useless,
and generally trying to destroy it?
The same guy who now says,
Putin's invasion of Ukraine is “genius” and “wonderful” ?

Trump has never done a single good thing on purpose in his entire adult life.
He's pure evil.
As if the last 6 years haven't made that clear enough already,
he's literally saying war is wonderful.
He would be a caricature of a Nazi if he weren't so stupid.

I agree about Trumph being a ducebag through and through, but he did go around europe stating that all NATO members should pay their part to keep NATO alive and i agree it shouldnt be the US responsibillity to pay for it singlehandeldly.

@ormgaard: It wasn't for the purposes of increasing investment,
it was for the purposes of turning Americans against it,
and creating division between Europe and the US, at Putin's bidding.
The message was,
“If you like this scam so much, you pay for it.”
That's not how you get Americans OR Europeans to invest, and he knew it.
And you see, he says the US funds NATO “singlehandedly”,
and you bought it. Many people did. Without even questioning.
It's not true at all.
As a percentage of GDP, the US only spends about double that of France, Romania, Latvia, Lithuania, and about 1.5x as much as the UK, France, Poland, and Greece.

Also Putin is not a moron.
Not only did he successfully sow animosity between Europe and the US, not only did he manipulate the UK into leaving/weakening Europe (the GCHQ is all but certain he rolled the campaign), not only did he bring the US to the brink of civil war, not only did he get a sizeable chunk of Republicans to openly side with him over Biden, not only did he manage to navigate the whole of Russia under his totalitarian boot heel and change the constitution to make himself the first unlimited-term president in Russian history, but he also entered and won 5 wars since he took office.
He's arguably the most dangerous man in the world.
Don't mistake psychopathy for a measure of intellect.

And don't blame the Russians for “keeping him in power”.
I assume you don't blame the North Koreans for keeping KJU in power.

@naryanrobinson:

I blame the Russian people for letting him get too this point they had amble opportunity to cast him aside, but apparently to many wanted the old soviet system back.

Many of the Nato members do not spend the required 2% of BNP for their military which is required this was my point when mentioning Trumph as he called that out, lets not make this a discussion abouT Trumph as we obviously agree on what kind of person he is.

I feel for the Ukranian people and i feel ashamed were not heping them, **** Putin bigtime if i was in control i would send my militray to Ukraine to fight alongside them unfortuantly im too old and in bad health to be able to go myself, but i will try to help where i can by helping refugee, and send monetary help if possible.

@deth420: The majority of Russians seem to be against this.
A justification just can't be found, no matter how hard one tries.
Even Putin's own security council were basically pressured into agreeing to it.
Even China, their last powerful ally, hasn't voiced support.
No, the only people evil enough to agree with this obscene atrocity,
are Putin,
Tucker Carlson,
and half of American republicans.

@deth420: Not really, most Russians have pronounced the war unjust when asked publicly and you can see their disgust on their faces when interviewed. It is The Kremlin that is evil and are taking advantage of Biden's show of weakness.

@just1mohr: Depends who you read/watch. I've seen plenty of both.

Since all "news" companies world-wide have political controlling interests, the best way to attempt to collect all the facts is to bookmark a whole lot of conflicting sides/sources world-wide.

Read, watch, and compare. Usually you can combine opposing sources and get a decent list of facts that way.
