Uncharted 3 gets a dozen Interactive Achievement Award nods

SKyrim - story???? Those combination of words makes me laugh. It has one of the most cliche-dull stories of all RPGs in 2011

How did Dark Souls only get nominated in one category?

It's kind of shocking that To The Moon never got nominated for story but Uncharted 3 and Skyrim did.

@risako9 To be fair it's partly because I loved the original and hated the loss of features. Such as the fact that I played a dwarf through the entire game and came to Dragon Age 2 to have no option to carry him on. DA2 partly gets a worse score just because it's a sequel that throws away some old features (and it added some too though) and I don't think that is appropriate for a sequel unless the features were actually bad. Anyway your right, other people have other interests.

@Sigil-otaku It's nice to have someone who shares the same outlook in gaming as me. BTW, I'd like Halo too if i have a 360 sadly it's too late for me to buy one. And i saw your profile and you gave Dragon Age 2 a 5.0; That's the point, I love Dragon Age 2 and you don't, same goes for UC end of story. :DD

@risako9 I can understand people liking other games and that's fine, I'm not a fan of racing games but I'd never blast someone for saying a racing game was good if they had valid reasons for it and I respect it's not my taste but equally can have good qualities I simply don't appreciate. But it has to be actually be worth that praise or I simply get a little annoyed by the comments, uncharted isn't bad because it's over rated but it's simply below what people say. I'm not offended but personally uncharted is a pet peeve series of mine if only due to being over rated (massively), I don't dislike the games and would consider them an 8/10 but people act like it's an 11/10 and deserves every award going and call every aspect of the game from characters, to plot, to pacing just 'perfect'. I respect you for staying firm on your opinion that you like it while still being fair to listen to my points but for me uncharted is simply the battlefield 3 or call of duty of the PS3. It's quick and easy fun with good graphics and plenty of vehicle crashes / explosions so it's praised on a main stream level. I hope I've not offended you and apologise if I have done so but my anger comes not from you but largely from the uncharted fanbase as a whole which I think is just a little too dedicated to the games. I hope you don't consider this a fanboy thing but yes I love Halo (several reasons due to gameplay, colourfulness, story, mechanics etc,) and it has haters.

@Sigil-otaku I completely understand what you mean, i have respect for video games and i've been gaming for 14 years now. So yes, in your point of view UC 3 is overrated. For me it's great. I've played so many games in my life and i can say some are not as good as UC 3 and some are far better than UC3. You're saying that the puzzles are dumb and redundant but what about other gamers who enjoy it? Admit it, there are some games that you like that others don't. So if you find my comment offending on your end then accept my deep apologies. I am not here to blurt out my fanboyism just expressing my love for the game. EDITED: and i agree with you when it comes to MGS 4.

Uncharted3 is the best game on ps3 in my opinion

@risako9 Uncharted is over rated, The humour is stilted by the fact that every character has the same humour except of course the 'evil' people which are all bound to humourless stereotypical criminal types. Gaming at it's finest? Only if you enjoy little plot (honestly, the stories don't even connect in any significant way which means even gears of war has a bigger overall narrative and even then gears has single player DLC too which is just sad for uncharted story lovers). Other than set pieces and graphics it's just a regular, linear shooter with insultingly easy puzzles and too many cliches. The only thing going for the games is that they have a good pacing but that is marred in atrocious decisions such as forcing the puzzles to be for babies despite them being 1,000 year old unsolved mysteries etc. Honestly, I remember that uncharted 2 temple where the puzzle was just pointing a mirror to reflect some light and before that turning a buddha's hands to match a picture. Bravo naughty dog, please never make a puzzle game. Coming back to gaming at it's finest. Do you have any respect for gaming? Even on the PS3 I have played the Metal Gear Solid franchise which is another TPS only far better due to added stealth, a proper story that doesn't repeat itself every game, a stronger and more sophisticated narrative and even then it has better game mechanics in my opinion. It's less casual and less flashy though so obviously it can't be gaming at it's finest *rolls eyes*

@vicsrealms Even PC gamers fell in love with Uncharted.Because it's a video game at its finest. :)) To real gamers: I hate it when people tell me Uncharted is overrated and Call of duty is great. UC is humorous , polished and beautiful (even Drake is hot!)

How is Witcher 2 not even nominated for achievement in story?

GoTY is going to be a close one this year I think. I'm yet to play Zelda and Skyrim, but as far as the others go none of them were particularly groundbreaking. They were pretty much more of the same (which certainly isn't a complaint), just bigger and more refined. Nothing that I felt was revolutionary like RDR, Uncharted 2 or MGS4.

UNCHARTED 3: EPIC Game of the year for me

I hope Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II - Retribution wins the strategy award. its an awesome game, exspecially now that they dumped Games For Windows S***e.

I expected Deus Ex HR to get more deserved recognition...

Now, if only the Uncharted series would come to the PC I would probably jump into the series. Its just not my type of console game.

That's a lot of awards to get there.

Uncharted 3 deserves all the praise it gets, no other 3rd person game comes close. Well deserved Naughty Dog, it's awesome.

Innovation is something that games lacks nowadays... they shouldn't have nominated innovation... I'm aiming to Kingdoms of Amalur this year... Skyrim has been improved over Oblivion but still the same game with better mechanic... next game if they really care for doing something new with this franchise, I hope they put some cinematics as your action influence the ending what means if you did ally with Daedra Lords to evil purpose keep your char EVIL wtf!... the ending was the same no mater what... that destroyed Skyrim for me... Dragon Age Origins still the best ending for this gen IMO even Fallout 3 has an ending...

@jbul - Know anyone personally who's had problems with it? Not to be argumentative but I've got 120 hours, my buddy has sank 160, and I know 3 other PS3 Skyrimmers and NONE of us have had ANY major problems; even having save files over 12.

Uncharted 3 is a game, all gamers should at least try.

I have recently bought a new HDTV and a PS3 and this is the first game I got. The campaign is awesome( though I wish it was paced a bit like UC2), the co-op is something I sinked in hours with my friends and the MP is really really fun and challenging. This is a great game you could get your money worth. Anyone on the fence for buying this game get it you wont be disappointed.

Also, I think people misunderstand what story can be in video games. A story in a game is not the same as a story in a movie or a book. Video gaming presents a different narrative styIe along with completely different approaches regarding how to present a story. It's not just what happens and in what order, it's in what world it happens, how you interact with it, how you can change it and how you progress through it. In that regard, few games have made as great an effort towards creating a dynamic story and world as Skyrim. The lore is most assuredly part of the story, and I applaud that gaming goes in a different direction in telling a tale of fiction than the norm. In the same way, Dark Souls has a fantastic story. It has next to NO narrative, yet the world it presents and its context is wonderful. Hopefully, people understand that a game's script and overall lead premise is not the only thing that constitutes story.

Out of the chosen nominees, I find Skyrim to be the best. Lack of Dark Souls and Xenoblade Chronicles is disquieting.

Game better be 5.0X better than the last. Uncharted 2's campaign was a pos.

I'm a little disappointed that MW3 wasn't nominated for Original Music Composition. Brian Tyler did an amazing job with MW3's ost.

A shame that World of Warcraft Cataclysm didn't came out this year, it wins Casual game of the Year for sure.

Interesting that the category for Handheld Game of the Year are all Nintendo games :). My guess is the fight will be between Mario Kart 7 and Super Mario 3D Land.

The only two categories I see a clear and away winner in are Sound Design (Battlefield 3) and Innovation (LA Noire). Other than that, meh?

Uncharted 3 had quality you would expect from naughty dog, but still I felt the SP was all over the place at points in the game. Hope the script is better on the 4th game.

Batman Arkham City was the best game of 2011, but that does not mean it's technology was better than Uncharted 3. They both are amazing games.
