US Ragnarok champions head to Korea

Winners Team XGMR and runner-up Denuo Convena will attend the MMORPG's tournament heading to first world championships in Seoul.

This past weekend at Anime Expo 2004, team XGMR swept the championship series of Ragnarok Online's US tournament, taking the first four battle matches of seven from rival Denuo Convena. Both teams will head to Seoul, Korea, to compete in the first Ragnarok Online World Championship July 17-18. A total of $64,000 will be awarded during the tournament, with $10,000 going to the winning team. For those unfamiliar with the game, Ragnarok Online is a massively multiplayer role-playing game based on a graphic novel written by Korean author Myung-Jin Lee. Wildly popular in Asia, the game was developed by Korea-based Gravity and launched in the US in 2002.
