UT2004 Mega Pack debuts on GameSpot

[UPDATE] Massive update for popular PC shooter adds nine new deathmatch, assault, and CTF maps.

Today at 12:00 p.m. PST, the Unreal Tournament 2004 Mega Pack made its world premiere on GameSpot. This new bonus pack adds nine new deathmatch, assault, and capture-the-flag maps for Atari and Epic Games' popular and well-reviewed PC shooter.

The maps featured in the Mega Pack include several reworked old maps and all-new levels--all of which have been polished into top shape by Epic's developers. A full list of the maps with Epic's official descriptions is below--those wishing to download the Mega Pack should visit the downloads page of the UT2004 gamespace.

UT 2004 MEGA PACK MAPS

AS-BP2-Acatana: "Intense space fighting and on-foot combat combine in this recreation of the historic Skaarj invasion of the Acatana asteroid belt."

AS-BP2-JumpShip: "Be part of the elite team that infiltrated and hijacked the first warp capable Jumpship."

AS-BP2-Outback: "City slickers just took over the outback's top brewery - get over there pronto and stop the production of their tasteless Zero Beer before it takes over Oz!"

AS-BP2-SubRosa: "Fight your way into a Liandri research facility and steal the original plans for the Redeemer."

AS-BP2-Thrust: "A recreation of the infamous destruction of the Saturn IX rocket where a team of rebel fighters launched it unguided and half fueled into hostile waters."

CTF-BP2-Concentrate: "Tall spires tower over this Capture the Flag battle set on a derelict outpost deep in the Elorean Seas."

CTF-BP2-Pistola: "This twin complex of concrete and metal combines the beauty of nature with the harsh lines of industrial architecture to create a fierce battle arena."

DM-BP2-Calandras: "The courtyards of Calandras were once beautiful and welcoming. While the Temple's interiors have been preserved, a new less-inviting use has been found for the exteriors."

DM-BP2-GoopGod: "For centuries the Nali monks managed to keep this sacred burial ground hidden until Liandri satellites discovered the location during a routine satellite sweep. The area was mined, and what remained was converted into a tournament arena, corpses and all."

As another user mentioned above, It's always good to see a dev like Epic supporting a game with new content more than 1 year and a half+ after the release. This time they put an emphasis on Assault, just as a warm up before the larger mode expected in UT2007.

Have you ever noticed that there are more games, and addons than there is time available to play them? I've never finished the original Unreal, used to just play botmatches, although I did finish Unreal II. What made me buy Unreal Tournament was the stats tracking feature. I still only really played botmatches though. I'm useless at UT online. Then of course I went ahead and bought UT2k3, and probably a new system to run it. Game didn't SEEM to be as good as the first UT. A year later, I buy UT2k4 even though a lot of content carried over from UT2k3 because the gameplay felt better and hey, there was quite a bit of new content in the form of maps and stuff. Of course, I'm downloading all the offical map updates as well, including this one. I'll probably never get to play it though. FACT: I have nearly 3 Gigabytes of patches for the games I own, and these mappacks contribute to that a little. I started keeping the patches on a single CD-ROM, then I moved to TWO CD-ROMS. Eventually, I guess enevitably, I'll burn the patches onto a single DVD-R, well as long as not too many more megapacks are released...

No VCTF Maps!!! I don't understand why the BEST gametype in the whole game gets ZERO support, even after onslaught long died out people were up until 5 in the morning playing VCTF even though we have the WORST maps out of any game ever in the history multiplayer gaming. Imagine if we had quality maps and support from epic, this gametype would still dominate. It's a real shame that epic gave it's finger to the community like this... They must have learned a thing or two from EA and DICE. Sorry Epic, I am not wasting my hard drive space on this worthless mega pack. And if UT 2007 dosent have full VCTF support I am not buying it.

Hehe I traded this game for Half-Life 2, sort of regretting it. Assault was my favorite mode but it sort of got old because there were too few maps...

this is why i gladly pay my cash for epics games they are sweet out of the box and they give nice extra"s UT99 is almost unplayable now i tried it is been moded cut sliced cheated moved around to the point where if you can acutly join a server through the MOD peoples custom anticheating or whatever it probabley is not UT99 Having to down load a million files to play anything everytime you change servers because everybody wants to use ther own custom crap is no fun. I like mods but most of the time I want to play the game I paid for not A new mod on every server that may or may not suck.

No Onslaught? Lame. Onslaught is really the only UT2004 mode I play, but I guess I'll try these maps out.

I stay amazed at the great support epic and Atari still give this game even after it's been out for over 1.5 years. My UT2004 folder is about to expand just tad bit more.
