Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 Will Let You Cross Console Gens With Xbox Series X Smart Delivery

Buy the upcoming vampire role-playing game on Xbox One and you'll get the Series X version for free.

Microsoft showcased a ton of third-party Xbox Series X games during its latest Inside Xbox stream, many of which take advantage of the console's Smart Delivery feature. Another game we can add to that list is the upcoming Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2. During the Inside Xbox presentation, Microsoft confirmed that Bloodlines 2 will support Smart Delivery. That means if you purchase the game on Xbox One, you'll automatically receive the Series X version as well. It's a feature we have not heard about on the PS5, despite the game also releasing on that platform.

A trailer showed all sorts of horrific sights, like a man dancing in a room full of suspended corpses, a first-person vampire bite, and supernatural vampiric powers.

Although it's been confirmed that Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 will be out on Xbox Series X, a release date for the game has still not been announced. It was originally slated to launch in the first quarter of this year, but publisher Paradox Interactive recently announced the title would have to be delayed to "late 2020."

"There's the responsibility to avoid some of the issues that plagued the first game, which was famously launched too early," developers Andy Kipling and Brian Mitsoda wrote in a blog post explaining the delay. "Over the last few months, it became clear that to stick to our original date would risk repeating that mistake. We won't do that. In the end, everyone working on this game wants to offer you the best Bloodlines 2 we can."

We got to see a number of other Xbox Series X games during the Inside Xbox stream, including the first gameplay of Assassin's Creed Valhalla. Microsoft will reveal more Series X details and titles leading up to the console's launch in its monthly 20/20 streams, with July's focusing on first-party games.

I know they are still working on it, but dang the visuals looked exceedingly bad in that trailer yesterday.

Does not look next gen to me.
Especially the character desing is "cartoony" (outdated too...for an A-game acceptable) and kills any vampire-vibe for me.

Maybe someone can answer this but why is 16 x Anisotropic filtering the limit even on PC ? . Or is it just that there is no discernable difference past x 16 to the human eye?

@jsprunk: I thought so. Would love to see a raytracing patch for Control for Series X to see just how capable the raytracing is.

This game looked like an Xbox 360 game, those faces and dead eyes were really bad. This did not sell me on Next Gen as compared to Bright Memory Infinite.

@mwewerka: If it's 4k 60 fps it would be a good start. lol 360 you are joking. Go back and play a 360 game then compare lol.

Not one game had any aliasing issues for a start and 360 was terrible in that regard and so was texture resolution and draw distances in that era. Not to mention anisotropic filtering back then which was more like 4 compared to 16.

@deviltaz35: "This game looks like a [insert old console] game" is practically a meme at this point so daft.

@gamingdevil800: It's odd as elsewhere footage of this game was shown and it looked much better but if you can get 360 to do these graphics at 4k 60 and above i'll pay you :)

@deviltaz35: The cinematics in this trailer definitely look worse than the actual gameplay for some reason.
