VU Games bringing Robots to consoles, PCs
Game adaptation of Fox's upcoming CG animated adventure will debut alongside the film in 2005.
Vivendi Universal Games announced today the development of a multiplatform game based on the upcoming CG animated film Robots from Twentieth Century Fox. The game is being developed by UK-based Eurocom Entertainment Software for the Xbox, PS2, and PC. The games launch is expected to coincide with the films release in early 2005.
The 3D action adventure game will place the player in the role of the films hero, Rodney Copperbottom, as he attempts to save his mechanical world from an evil tyrant. Apparently, developers are using assets from the film production to translate the movie world to the gameworld. In a press release, Vivendi boasts that the Robots game will be an experience for Robots fans of all ages, so expect plenty of puzzle-solving and nonviolent gameplay, with a probable E rating from the ESRB.
The film itself will feature a slew of big-name celebrity voices, including Halle Berry and Mel Brooks. There is no word yet on whether the actors will make an appearance in the game, but stay tuned to GameSpot for more information as the game continues development.
