Final Fantasy XV has arrived.

Square Enix's long-awaited Final Fantasy XV is out today, and to mark the release, the publisher put out an impressive-looking live-action trailer. Titled "Stand Together," the video shows a group of boys about to be smashed to pieces by a hulking beast before Noctis and crew save the day. It's a cool video, and the use of Florence Welch's "Stand by Me" cover is a nice touch. Take a look in the video embed above:

In development for almost a decade, Final Fantasy XV is out now for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. GameSpot's review scored it an 8/10.

Now Playing: Final Fantasy XV - Stand Together Trailer

"While it's safe to assume fans and outsiders will find some aspect of Final Fantasy XV disappointing--be it the shallow story or finnicky Astrals--it would be hard for anyone to deny that Final Fantasy XV is a fascinating game after giving it a chance," reviewer Peter Brown said. "Where its characters fail to impress, Final Fantasy XV's beautiful world and exciting challenges save the day."

It's still weird to hear "Stand By Me" in an action-oriented JRPG...

..also: is that really the target age group SqEnix is going for? 12-14 year olds? I understand wanting to widen your audience, but wow...

@ctlaltbatman: I think that's actually a prime demographic for Final Fantasy fans. I got really into the series between the age of about 10 to 14 after playing FFIV (II in the US) and then becoming obsessed with FFVI (III when it came out in the US.) The series never felt so magical as it did to me at that age.

I'm 34 now and still can't seem to leave the series behind. Since X, it's annoyed me how immature it presents most of it's story and character interactions; though I'd argue that XII was somewhat mature. Perhaps the differences in Japanese vs American culture is part of the reason for that. The series still holds a special place in my heart, and I still call it my favorite series because of the nostalgia.

Play through this game, or any other in the series and ask yourself, "is this something a 12-14 year old would enjoy?" For the personality types who are into D&D / roleplaying fantasy type games, it's a resounding yes.

Sorry for the rant haha, I've been drinking.

@drumjod: yes, exactly. I've noticed that since I'm still a kid. The japanese have a really different way to express themselves. Even when they try to look more western their japanese blood still shows up in their actions, or words, or medium.

It's probably the reason why i don't have qualms about japanese and western games or movies. My brain automatically adjusts to it. I appreciate both styles. Hahahaha xD

The millions they put in that stupid thing could have translated to hours of gameplay content.
