Watch New Dramatic Halo 5 TV Trailer

Microsoft has unveiled a new TV spot for the upcoming Halo 5: Guardians on its YouTube channel. The trailer is titled "A Hero Falls" and centres on a speech announcing the death of Halo series protagonist, Master Chief. You can watch the full video above.

Master Chief's death has been alluded to several times in the lead up to the launch of Halo 5: Guardians--trailers released earlier this year pointed at the convoluted ties between Master Chief and newcomer Spartan Locke. Microsoft also launched a mysterious "Hunt the Truth" campaign that parodies the popular Serial podcast.

Halo 5 launches on October 27 exclusively for Xbox One. The game's multiplayer mode will feature a REQ system, which Microsoft recently explained in a video.

The publisher has confirmed that the game will not have a Big Team Battle multiplayer mode at launch. The company has also partnered with video game clothing company Musterbrand for a new "Halo Collection" line dedicated to the shooter series.

Not the first time everyone thought John died. But "Heroes Never Die".

Plus they've already confirmed The Master Chief will be in Halo 6 and beyond.

@JustinGoSka: I don't think they said anything about Chief being in anything beyond Halo 6, other than saying they eventually know how the story of Chief ends (but that was also in the context of talking loosely about Halo 6).

Halo 5 will probably end on a cliffhanger with everyone questioning whether Chief is dead or not.

@lj2387: Not explicity. But they said the reclaimer trilogy is now a saga involving the master chief. So that means there's going to be more than 3 games in the reclaimer saga, the third game being Halo 6, so there should be more games after that, also focusing on the master chief. At least that's how I interpreted what they said.

@Forcecaster: Its a PR thing. Both saying that Spartans never die and them saying the master chief died. If you've been following the Hunt The Truth audio drama, politicians are trying to say that the Spartan II's are mentally unstable as a way to further the Spartan IV program. Its also why John was blamed for the incident that happened with during the meeting with sangheili leaders.

Man if 343 kills of Master Chief and makes Spartan Locke the new main protagonist of the series I'm gonna laugh my ass off at all the people that bought that garbage that 343 put out. I've been saying for months that Halo 5 looks like crap and not like a true Halo well if they did that it would be fucking confirmed lol.
