New trailer features a cameo appearance from Darth Vader.
Lucasfilm has released a new trailer for Star Wars Rogue One, the upcoming Star Wars spin-off film set before the events of Star Wars: Episode IV. The trailer was shown during the Rio Olympics broadcast on NBC. The most significant reveal in the trailer is the cameo from Darth Vader at the very end--watch it for yourself in the embedded video below.
Note that this trailer isn’t the first to include Darth Vader; Lucasfilm previously showed footage featuring Vader during the Star Wars Celebrations in July, which panel attendees were able to view in addition to some behind-the-scenes clips from Rogue One.
Rogue One hits theaters on December 16, 2016. Is it the first spin-off film in Star Wars history, and is directed by Godzilla's Gareth Edwards. The movie stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Riz Ahmed, Forest Whitaker, and Mads Mikkelsen. The next movie in the Star Wars saga, Episode VIII, will be released in 2017. After that, a standalone movie focusing on young Han Solo will premiere in 2018.
