If you're interested in watching the Star Fox Zero animated short, you can do so in the video player below. Star Fox Zero: The Battle Begins debuts on Nintendo's Twitch channel right now.

The Battle Begins was teased the other day with a trailer featuring Star Fox and his other critter companions: Falco Lombardi, Slippy Toad, and Peppy Hare. You can watch the teaser trailer for yourself right here.

After the short finishes, you can watch a Treehouse: Live presentation of the upcoming Star Fox Zero and the standalone game Star Fox Guard, which stars Slippy's uncle, Grippy.

Star Fox Zero releases for the Wii U on April 22 and is bundled with Star Fox Guard.

GameSpot scored Star Fox Zero a 7 out of 10. Critic Peter Brown said, "Zero is a good-looking homage with some new locations to find and challenges to overcome. It doesn't supplant Star Fox 64, but it does its legacy justice."

This was actually pretty cool. I love the art style. I wish they'd use this art style for the game.

The frame rate for a lot of the character moments was pretty choppy, but it was a great episode, kids would love this as a fully fledged cartoon.

@incrediblmullet: I think the framerate was intentionally choppy, to make it look more anime-ish. It's like... a style. But I kinda agree at the same time.

Rather good, the animation at times wasn't very smooth(Character movements, not the rest). Though I got used to it after awhile.

That was really high quality. Well written, funny and action packed. Great animation too. Nintendo should do this with all their properties.
